In Korea, there isn't an age restriction but they have put into place laws for minors wanting to become trainees. They are allowing them to chase their dream but makes sue that the agencies take care of their physical and mental health. Minors are only allowed to work a certain amount of time and they also need to attend school on top of their trainee practice. If there were a lawa in place like restricting the age of the trainees then BABYMONSTER wouldn't exist since the only one that was old enough is Ruka and even at that when she started training she wouldn't have made the age cut. That is the reason why BABYMONSTER has a lot of controversy when they introduced the members to the public for the first time. There was a lot of people that believed they were too young to debut or be trainees. The one thing that everyone forgets is that these girls are chasing a dream and think that this is the best way to achieve it. In the west we don't think about it but there has been a lot of music that comes from young people but they had to go though the same struggles as K-pop trainees or even worse because they never will know when their hard work will pay off. Think of Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, Sia, Daft Punk, Lorde, Ed Sheeran, Paramore's lead singer Hayley. When you think about it in that sense then to a certain degree if the agency takes care of these trainees then it would be better than them struggling on their own. They can train them to be who they want to become and with the lsws placed in Korea, they need to take care of their mental and physical health. In other words, monitor them to make sure that they are not harming themselves just to become idols. The Korean government also restricts the amount of hours that a minor can work as an idol or trainee per day allowing them time to be able to have enough time for school work. And Asa wasn't the youngest trainee to start in the BABYMONSTER project. Rora was the youngest trainee among the BABYMONSTER members at around 11 when she started. You also have to remember that all of the members were already chasing this dream before coming to YG, Rami was a child model, Rora was part of a kid girl idol group, Pharita was a model and was going to appear in an idol competition show, Ruka was part of an idol group in Japan, Ahyeon had already applied to JYP and was part of their training program but switched to YG and has been wanting this since she was younger, Chiquita was part of a dance cover group in Thailand when her audition was accepted at YG, Asa wanted ti become a YG artist after seeing BLACKPINK for the first time. I understand where you are coming from but you also have to think which would be better, them struggling on their own or if they have an environment where they can be watched over and taken care of.

Well said. A lot of girls all around the world are doing dance practice many hours a week...just for love. They come home tired, but never have the chances these girls have.

Who knows what happen after 18? Some might already have thoughts of getting married, some might have grown plump, some might have given up their dreams as they are going into University etc etc. In gymnastic, if you do not train them young then the trainees will amount to nothing much.

You make valid points. It's a tough industry and it isn't for everyone. I'm pleased that there are laws and guidelines in place to protect these kids. That was my first concern when I heard Blackpink for the first time in 2019. I would feel comfortable sending my kids to YGE for training if that is what they wanted to do,

Same as athletes or Olympians or gymnast Olympians starting at 10:00 11:12 years old and training for years for their dream to become athletes and entertainers nobody complains about that this is all their choice and their parents approval they have the free will to leave anytime they want

I hear all of you @JamesKaneshiroDesignSamurai @TheRyno525 and obviously we have different perspectives on this topic, But all I am saying is as much as I understand and respect the dreams these idols have , yes if they do NOT start training younger, then when they reach a certain age, those dreams naturally fade away. My point is some certain ages for me I consider them extremely young and very pressurizing to kids because later when they start speaking about how they missed out on school tours, or friends .....you just can't help but wonder how the outcome would have been if they were to wait a while longer after they have experienced that youthful part of their lives. I know that if we all started training for our dream jobs and careers earlier when we were young, chances of the world having numerous and countless doctors, pilots, engineers, teachers, fire fighters , lawyers , police officers etc would be much much higher. I totally agree 100000% on that, HOWEVER the pressure, stress, anxiety and trauma that we would be impacting on most kids for stripping them off of their kids privilege to be children, would enormous and I don't think they would be able to recover from that kind of scar. We all have different takes on things and we are each entitled to them for whatever reasons, be it different beliefs, ideologies, teachings, upbringing and etcetera. This is just mine and honestly I am very happy and proud they made it through. I can't begin to imagine the things they went through to be where they are and I won't lie and say I have even the slightest knowledge, BUT I am truly overjoyed and thrilled of their accomplishments💯👏👏👏👏

I understand what you are saying, but you make it sound as if they don't have a choice. They most certainly have a choice and they want to be there and they are well chaperoned and looked after. It isn't for everyone, but these 7 kids had the burning desire to go through this long, grueling training to achieve their goals. That is what this song is stating.

The lyrics reflected Babymonster themselves through the root and also inspire other youths to do so, to chase the dream. Parents are the key to their success supporters. The 7 individual introductions also reflected YGE's training system and work like the ads to parents to ensure, in case their kids wanna be idol, they will be under professional idol making process.

They did have a say and a choice @roberttemme6162 . But they were not considered adults to know what was best for themselves at the moment. And that's why guardians and parents are there. They is ABSOLUTELY nothing wrong with kids having dreams and wanting to accomplish them, as a parent, that makes you proud, BUT as the more developed one than your child, you also know when to intervene as you have a better understanding of what things a child below 18 can and cannot handle properly. That's all I'm saying. I commend them for pushing and fighting for their dreams, BUT at certains ages, there should be restrictions of maybe how long they can train or if they are even allowed to in the first place, based on certain ages that consider the participant a child. Yes they made it through and pushed through it, but I am sure there are so many trainees or idols that left, gave up or some even committed suicide due to the pressure they face. And you cannot rule out one of the probable causes to be exposure to that type of spotlight early on in their life where they face cyber bullying, criticism, hate , trolling and so much more that they feel like they've had it and the only solution out is, worst case......killing themselves.

@@CiquLove I get you, with much respect. Ultimately, the parents of these kids are making the decisions whether or not their child is ready to embark on this journey away from home for several years. Fortunately there are now laws in place in South Korea limiting minors to how much time they can practice/train and both their physical and mental health is more closely monitored. It is a tragedy, for those that took their own lives in the past but hopefully these new laws and rules will eliminate future tragedies.

@@roberttemme6162 I am relieved that the government has somewhat intervened to an extent because not everyone has nice parents who value their children's well being more than money. There are other parent that may push their children on such paths as a way of making money out of them. But all in all, that was my concern on them having some limitations based on the effects those tough training conditions/ pressure could have on them. I'm glad we understood each others perspectives😉😉

Those kids are there because they want to be there, and it is the parents decision if they allow them to become trainees, not companies, not complete strangers aka fans, Parents raise their children not society. You are advocating placing restrictions based on what you think they should or shouldn't be doing, you have the right to do what you want with your child but what gives you the right to make rules for other peoples kids simply based on how you feel?

Again you have really to react to their last evaluation performances especially their individual performances. They're all on their channel if you don't want to react to the whole show. In order it starts with Pharita's cover and ends up in Ahyeon's. You really need to react to their solo performances, they're amazing!

Watch the intros and last evaluation even just for yourself. You don’t need to react. Rora was 10 the first time we hear her sing. She messed up. Cries in front of YG himself. But YG says he likes her. She lives with her family most of the time from what we see. She could have just not gone back. But she wanted this. And it’s payed off now.

It’s a lot of time. You react to it I’ll watch it but I just thought even if you watch it yourself you will see the commitment. They want this. They are just kids. The foreign ones move to another country as kids without their families. Chiquita and Asa were roughly 12. But they can leave anytime and many trainees do leave. They stuck with it and now look at them.

About age ...... Yes teenagers hard training looks bully .. Let's all teenagers do nothing just play NO SCHOOL , NO SPORTS , GENIUS KIDS , TALENTED KIDS, ... LET THEM CAN'T DO ANYTHING JUST PLAY AT PLAY GEOUND I hate hard training only when parents push hard to do it without kids happy to do it I hate some are just come without good trained enoug but BABY MONSTERS all more than enough for being artist - they must wait more time bc age? ( I thing that's more bully time for them) Study hard for Doc, scientists,....... they are same hard time they have to pass thru ..why ppl doesn't think that's Bully

I hear you @jungcha9452 . Yes, if a child is talented and they want to pursue something, as a parent, then support them....all I'm saying is sometimes the kids may end up enrolling on this career because the parents push them to at times, and other times, the parents may be understanding and decide to give the kids their support, but then due to their non developed minds and bodies to take on such extreme and hardcore training, they end up breaking down from the pressure. So at the end of it all, I am just saying it's a 50/50 variable. That it could result to something great like you know, BABYMONSTER and all these other groups/ artists that have succeeded, or become a total failure where the child is scared for life.
