I’m from Puerto Rico and I remember learning that song and singing it in a choir as a kid. 😊 And actually that name reminds me, I saw a list of french names on Pinterest last week that included the name “Bluette” it was the first time I had seen that name and I did a bit of research on it and apparently it means “a short, brilliant piece of music”. I LOVE the meaning so much! And the name is cute too. It also could maybe fall into the color type of names because of the “Blue” beginning. 💙

I couldn't imagine anyone in a French-speaking country being called "Alouette" but it sounds great in English! I live in Quebec and it's the name of the our Baseball team. I LOVE Emrielle! I've never heard it before. Cadeau and Devereux are also really uncommon here. Minette is really common for cats ;) Minou is how we say "Kitty" in French.

Hello, I’m from Belgium (the little country next to France) and I’m a native french speaker. 😀 I have Watched different video on baby name, from american / canadian girl: what I observed is that we have very different « taste » for baby names. On your list, I could only recognised few names that are actually used here (in France and Belgium ) such as Solange, reine (rare), Bastienne (rare), Leonie, Céline ... but the rest of the list I don’t know where you found them 😂 one precision for minette : this is also used to describe a female cat, an « easy » girl, and also the genital part of a girl !! So be carefull when you use a name from a different origin ;)

I think Allouette is so lovely! And I've always liked that cute little song. Although it was kind of disturbing to learn the lyrics of the song are about plucking the feathers and beak and eyes and everything off a bird. I think it was a song they'd sing while preparing the bird and then it just caught on as a happy working song. Still love the name!
