He let Pato and Andrey back up from turtle cause 1. As you mentioned, he would have more opportunities to sway the judges in his favor but more importantly 2. They could pull guard after 3 seconds. Which is exactly what Pato( at least) was looking for

I didnt watch your prediction video but looking at it here I must say outside of baby shark those are very poor yet very popular picks. Media is media and people start to evaluate grapplers potential by their social media presence instead of actual breakdown of the technique. Don't get me wrong these are amazing grapplers but to bet on them over some of other guys that competed cannot have any other rational reason that simple media hype. All of these picks are related to either new wave or B-team that is teams that have significant media reach. But media reach doesn't mean most titles.

how is diogo the highest iq fighter of the event? tactically he was dominant yes but had 0 submissions. IMO kade had a better tactical and technical display with 100% submission. giancarlo in 88kg i believe had a way better tactical and technical approach with his matches with a 75% submission rate (almost 100% but the clock ran out as he was about to get the sub). and lets not forget how GR pissed all over his +99 weight class by switching up tactics to help conserve energy for the super match ( which he crushed in dominant fashion) and going for quick finishes which threw off most of his opponents and caught them off guard with a 75 % sub rate ? what about GR's tactical takedown approach of letting his opps take him down so he wouldnt get negative points for pulling guard so he could take advantage and force them to engage while on bottom? mikey at the moment wins against diogo with a tech & tact IQ edge.

I think you completely misunderstood the video. And no, Mikey would not beat Diogo. Mikey might have the best guard in jiujitsu, but he isn't as well-round as people seem to believe. He can't wrestle, you barely see him pass guard, and once you pass his guard he has no answers.

Diogo beats Mikey pretty easily. Who has Mikey beaten at 66kg in nogi? It's okay, I'll wait. Please don't say Geo Martinez. Gabriel Sousa steamrolled him at WNO. Diogo would be no different. Mikey is great, don't get me wrong. But to think he would beat Diogo (especially in ADCC) is ludicrous.

Please re-read objectively, rather than emotionally, what I wrote. Mikey is a proven multiple world champion in both gi and no gi. I'm not saying Mikey is Gordon Ryan level good, but he's pretty damn good. Watch his match against Iminari a few months ago. Iminari is no slouch. Btw, I recently attended a seminar with the Menaus boys ( Diogo, Fabrizio and of course Micael and his Dad) and I love their style (as already mentioned). Got photos with them at the end too. But the fact is their leg game is no where near the US and European leg game yet. It's nearly there but I don't think it's unstoppable level yet. Just look at how Micael dominated Kade in their ADCC match, only to make a silly mistake and get submitted. How many of Diogo's matches ended in a leg/foot finish during ADCC?? Sure he tried a few on, but how many were clean submissions?? When he consistently gets clean leg/foot submissions at ADCC level, then I think he'll be ready. Now if we spoke about Gi game then the Menaus boys are next level and definitely world class!!

@@TheDomLouis how many leg lock submissions does Mikey have in no-gi? His "Mikey lock" against a nobody? And he won no-gi worlds forever ago. And it wasn't at 66kg. Also, not one submission with ADCC rules. He's never competed in trials. He was invited to ADCC for his name, not his ability. Mikey would have a terrible time with Diogo Reis. You make it seem like Mikey is Lachlan Giles or Eddie Cummings. He has leg locks, of course. But he's only been training heel hooks for a little of a year now, too. He's not the king of them.
