I had a babysitter who worked night shifts at work, so she’d fall asleep and have her 2 daughters watch me instead. They abused me badly but didn’t ever get in trouble because I was a pretty clumsy kid and it was fairly reasonable that I would have hurt myself and leave the same marks they left. They were really smart about it. One time one of them stripped in front of me and stood there naked, and I was confused. She stood there for a bit and then left. I don’t know what all that was about. They made me want to die, but was luckily too young to know what suicide was. Don’t worry, things got much better eventually. Moral of the story: children don’t often have the language to say things like “my babysitters are abusing me, help” they will say something like “x and y are mean” or “I don’t Iike it there, don’t make me go” Please don’t ignore your kids
@annana60985 жыл бұрын
I keep saying it, but victims go into survival/ defense mode. Majority of the time, they're not going to tell you they got sodomized, they're going to say they don't want to go to soccer. They're not going to tell you your mother is going senile and beating them, they're going to say they don't want to go to grandma's house. It can seem like childish whining, but you still have to pay attention. Abusers often threaten retaliation if the abuse is reported. If you make a habit of dismissing kids concerns, they won't trust you to believe them.
@NotSoCrazyNinja5 жыл бұрын
I was abused by a stepsister when I was around 2-3 years old. She was maybe around the age of ten at the time. She would physically hurt me and I was unable to really tell anyone. I finally "found the words" needed to let my mother know why I didn't want to go back to my dads house and I think she got the message. I have never forgiven that stepsister. I have no idea if she remembers. That was a very long time ago. Point is, if a child really doesn't want to "go back" to someone or some house, pay attention. There may be something going on that they just can't quite put into words. If something seems off, it probably is.

While mom was deployed, Dad got a stay-in nanny to take role of 'mom' while our mom was overseas. This Nanny, we'll call her Cheez-it. She was a college age student, very flighty in the head. For a month it went fine, she woke us up and got us ready for school, then had some form of snack when we got home and dinner when dad got home. She had her own room, free roam of the house, allowed to put things on the list, Dad would pay. He gave her a great pay rate too, when nobody was home or when Dad was home she could do whatever, leave, party, anything. After a month, she stopped waking us up, and instead, we woke her up. Then she stopped making us breakfast, and gave us a box of Cheez-its for snack. When dad got home, no dinner, and my sister and i were full of Cheez-its, and she left. The final straw was when, after sleeping in, not feeding us, and ignoring dinner, she asked my father for a massive pay raise. My father told her "no, you dont do chores, you dont wake my kids, you dont feed them. They basically are your nanny. You have one month to get out" and she left to live with her fiance, after promising my sister and i we'd get to be her flower girls. We did not get to be her flower girls.

I only had one baby sitter, a friend of my brother who (thank god) wasn't one of his druggy friends. She was amazing, sweet, kind, she seemed to really enjoy my company and was always eager to have me come over. she had a cool grown up's studio apartment that was really clean and smelled nice (my house was gross) She let me use her expensive watercolor pencils to draw Pokemon, and had the only water i would drink until i was like 20 (she had a huge rain collector in her back yard and her drinking water came from there, it tasted AMAZING) She would give me dinner sometimes and it was always really healthy (mom believed a stick of butter was a tea spoon) and had tasty deserts, the first time i ever had apple pie was with her and to this day i won't eat apple pie without ice cream.

Not exactly babysitting, but when I was about 17, my two younger brothers and I had our bedrooms downstairs. My parents were very involved at our church. One night, my mom had some late meetings and instructed my dad to make sure we got to bed at 10, since it was a school night. Ten o'clock rolls around. My dad walks to the bottom of the stairs and yells "Go to bed." and then goes back upstairs and goes to bed. Needless to say mom was still pissed the next morning and again asks my dad what he was thinking and he basically said, "I told them to go to bed, it they didn't it's on them, not me". Needless to say, we boys and our little sister laughed our asses off. Mom wasn't happy.

Long ago, around the tender age of six or seven, I had an obese babysitter who I asked for some food because I was hungry. She didn't feel like or didn't want to make me anything so told me to wait. I waited, and asked again. Same thing. I waited, then asked again, and apparently, this pissed her off and she decided to "punish" me by forcing me to eat five times the amount of food I should have had. This was the beginning of an issue I've had with food for most of my life resulting in me becoming an obese person. I believe if she had given me a proper portion of food, I would never have gained so much weight in my childhood, which held over into my adulthood with the exception of a small period in my teenage years where I was of a relatively healthy weight. Some would say "oh that is just an excuse", but what she did changed me on a mental and emotional level and it took decades for me to realize it and try to resolve it.

Oh I have a story. I live in a small European country that was once in the soviet union (it wasn't in it anymore when I was born), and there was this sketchy russian TV program, about this man who can allegedly hypnotize the viewers and mane them see visions and stuff. It was usually something weird old people watched, nothing serious. But cult - like. So once my parents came home to find my baby sitter paying no attention to me and sitting on the floor surrounded by pillows (in case the magic TV program causes her to faint), watching it. I don't remember it because I was like 2, but my parents say it was creepy

When I was about 6 maybe 7 years old, I had a babysitter, Erica who was a high school student and she was awesome and weird like me, we'd play video games, watch MTV (back when they played music videos). The weird part, she was a FURRY but as a kid and I guess this was early days of the fandom....I found it awesome I still love furries to this day they are great people! :) She even taught me how to sew (with a sewing machine!) which is a skill I'm glad I know now later in life helping her modify her fursuit. She was the BEST!!

My babysitters were usually my grandparents (both maternal and paternal, depending on who’s available, which was usually my maternal ones) or my paternal aunt (dad’s sister). Every time I’d see either set of my grandparents, they’d have all sorts of snacks. Those were great times (Don’t worry, they’re all still alive)

I’ve only been babysat once, we just played Lego Star Wars over the course of a weekend. The girl can complete the classic podracing level, she’s my hero. Instead, I babysit fairly often, I’m a baby whisperer, so I get paid pretty well since I can make the most unruly of children fall asleep. None of the stories are weird or anything, but I love to play video games with the little shits. I like to observe which kid likes which game, and they all seem to love NieR:Automata

10:10 That's really sad. I have a childhood friend who his mom used to leave alone and go out at nights, along with his sister, from a very young age. I thought she was awesome back then, but very soon I realised she was irresponsible, put her entertainment over her kids' well being, and pretty much not fit at all (in my opinion) to become a mother. I guess what you give, You receive. Her kids won't put much effort into her either nowadays. And I think they do right. They set their priorities in accordance to hers. Fair to me.

I'm one of the amusing weird. Both my cousins had the misfortune of babysitting me. One just put me in front of the NES and explained the controls, then left to do his college homework in the next room. I'd spend hours talking at the TV making up stories (Megaman turned into Power Rangers where each weapon was a whole different robot because i confused weapon bars for HP) so I was pretty entertained either way and my fondest memory that isn't dad-related is of him actually speedrunning through Mario 2 for me. I remembered the warps and taught them to my gamer aunt when it was her turn to babysit me. My other cousin (college NES one's younger brother) tried to make me finish my cereal bowl by putting it in a glass to make it look like there was less. All it did was teach me that goshdarn it's hard to eat cereal with a spoon out of a glass. I'm pretty sure I took an hour to finish half the glass before he gave up and finished my cereal himself so neither of us would get in trouble.

I was molested/raped by my babysitter when I was around 5ish (hard to remember when exactly) She was also my cousin, so there's that too. I didn't know what she did was wrong at the time, just that it was weird and felt weird, but after I found out it was, I told a couple of my close guy friends (I was probably 12-13 when I finally told someone) and they were stoked, they didn't know why I was acting like it was a bad thing, they just thought I was lucky for getting with a girl while I was so young. I never really told that many people about it after that, because that put a bad taste in my mouth. She never got jail time because she died in a car accident before I got the courage to tell the Police.

I wasn't babysitted much, I would always be with my parents. But I'll tell you this: When I was 7 or 8 (I don't remember) I was afraid of pitch dark rooms because I don't know them or what's in it. My mom was teasing me and almost shut the door but my toe got stuck under it and it ripped off my skin and started bleeding. I started crying out of pain and I was brought to the hospital. I had to wear a cast on my foot for a week until it healed. It was pretty traumatizing but I'm alright! No scar left. My mother treated me better

through the ages of 5-8 I had the same female babysitter. She was 13-16. She'd send me to my room for bedtime and she would come in with me playing around tickling me giving me raspberries on my tummy and would finish off with a hand job. Never progressed past that though. I always thought it was just part of playing around and since it felt good I never told anyone, so my parents never found out.

My grandma (kinda babysitter) pretende to be dead more than once when I was 8-10 and in retrospective that probably fucked me up, cuz I think it was around those times when I started waking up at night and staring at people while they slept thinking how they WILL die at some point and leave me alone. So... Dont to that... Please I know not everyone reacts the same, but dont take the risk of having to wake up at 3am to a kid at the foot of your bed staring at you in the dark crying silently...

Never actually had a babysitter. I was always looked after by close family like my grandparents when my mum was at work. Closest thing I had was when I went to a motorbike rally (still go to this day every year). My mum was and still is a marshal there and I'd go with her for the weekend. When she was working I'd be left with a very sweet older marshal who was in charge of the snacks and hot drinks in the gathering area for marshals (the survival tent it was called). I'd play games with other marshals kids and on my handheld console. Strangest thing she ever did, which is to say not very, was severely lose her temper if anyone put a wet teaspoon in the sugar. It'd cause the sugar to form clumps and she'd give whoever was responsible a verbal thrashing. I miss her.
