The 2022 FTX Crypto Cup sees Magnus Carlsen, Alireza Firouzja, Levon Aronian, Anish Giri, Jan-Krzysztof Duda, Liem Le, Hans Niemann and Praggnanandhaa gather in the Eden Roc Miami Beach Hotel in Miami, Florida for the 2nd Major on the $1.6 million Meltwater Champions Chess Tour. $210,000 and a $100,000 Bitcoin bonus is at stake in the 7-round all-play-all tournament. Each match consists of 4 rapid games on the chess24 Playzone, with the winner earning $7,500 (3 points). If the match is tied there's a blitz tiebreak, with 2 blitz games followed, if needed, by a single Armageddon game. The winner earns $5,000 (2 points) and the loser $2,500 (1).
For each rapid game the players have 15 minutes for all their moves, with a 10-second increment after each move. For blitz games it's 5 minutes and a 3-second increment, while for the Armageddon game White has 5 minutes to Black's 4, but a draw counts as a win for Black. No draw offers are allowed before move 40. Official website: chess24.com/tour

*The biggest mistake the higher rated players make is playing a defensive game against Pragg.* Playing a defensive game against Pragg is like following Magnus into an endgame. I'm surprised the big guys don't understand this boy's psychology. Pragg will keep throwing good and precise attacks that prevents his opponents from fully mobilising their defenses and therefore keeps them on edge throughout the game. I'm sure they must find him terrifying because he overworks them to their breaking points. Pragg plays an attacking game, so the best way to deal with him is to stay offensive from the beginning to the end if possible. If the big guys can do that, at some point he would cave under the pressure and then they can employ their big guy factor to finish him like Firoujza did in the last game with him. I knew Firoujza would win the game immediately he started playing offensively from the beginning. Of course it's not easy to attack non-stop, but at least, the opponents should counterattack rather than just defend and defend. The thing with defensive games is that when you're defending, you're not attacking and one thing Pragg excels at is that he sets up quickly and starts attacking relentlessly. He's still young, temperamentally less patient and less risk averse. The mature players play it too safe. They set up their defenses, and then set up their defenses, and play waiting moves in hopes that the opponent would blunder an attack. Pragg finds that boring. His hallmark is "set up with a decisive attack and attack!". Playing a defensive game against him doesn't work, if anything, it makes things easy and fun for him because it means the opponent is dancing to his tunes.

@chessking7607 Жыл бұрын
I heard attack is the best form of defense so no doubt pragg is best defender too
@HybridReactions
@HybridReactions Жыл бұрын
@@chessking7607 His defenses are beyond average obviously, but not as good as his offenses. His defenses are just good enough to give him attacking edge at the elite level and that's impressive. Nevertheless, he attacks slightly better than he defends, the big guys on the other hand seem to defend better than they attack and that's where things go wrong for them when they face him. You can't win a game by only defending. Pragg often caves if they give him a decisive attacking game like Firoujza did. Yes, even though Pragg was winning the game, but Firoujza's constant attacks did get to him at the last minute and he blunders. Then Firoujza's big dog factor won him the game. You must respect the boy though. It's not easy to find a gaming disposition that have you winning against higher rated opponents as constantly and as easy as he does it. He makes chess fun and entertaining.

What about Nxe4? If the Queen moves to take the Knight then the black queen captures the bishop? So black is still up a pawn...?
@Nullifidian
@Nullifidian Жыл бұрын
I wonder why Pragg didn't just trade down after 72. f5. The way I see the continuation is with 72... Rxd2 73. Kxd2 Kg5 74. f6 gxf6 75. Ke3 (to blockade the pawn and prevent Kf4 and Kg3) f5, and now white is in zugzwang. Giri would have either had to move the king and allow Pragg's king down the board or he'd have had to play g3 or g4 and allow the pawn to be captured by Pragg's h-pawn. It seems much easier to calculate without the pieces on the board.

Bg3 was such an unnecessary move from Anish. Pragg was moving his rook already. Anish seems to be handing the youngster gratuitous tempi in this one.

@@Dr.GOWTHAM_EM I don’t see such rating in FIDE (Official rating). I think it is some private rating and is quoted Zin this video by mistake. Normally Agadmaster posts only official ratings.
