It's funny, because I played this organ (1739 built by Trost in Altenburg, Germany) myself a few months back. And even funnier: I played this exact piece! Back in the day Bach himself played this organ too and liked it very much. The feeling to play an organ that was played by Bach is extraordinary.

That's Karl Richter i have the it on Lp and he plays the Dorian on the great Silberman Organ in the Kathedral of Freiberg Germany.

@@EwicoCylinder Yes that recording was from the Silbermann organ of Freiburg. The part that is confusing and makes no sense is that the Trost organ of Weimar is shown but Karl Richter's recording. So, you are hearing a Silbermann organ, but seeing a Trost organ. Very confusing. But they decided to do it that way. @@bowlerrollercoaster Yes it it confusing and I wonder why they decided to do it that way, because you hear and see totally diffrent things. Nothing against Richter, but here i think it is wrong to use his Version, because it makes huge diffrents in sound between a Silberman Organ and a Trost Organ to hear.

Not really extraordinarily lively but somewhat slower because of the organ action - see him having to use more than usual muscle to depress the keys.

I think that Richters Bach, especially this piece leaves all others in the dust. He gives Bach a cosmic scale that most players refuse to indulge in. Who wants a puny Bach organ recital, I don’t!

I think this is the right tempo. Most organists today play this piece as it were written for the pianoforte.
