Danke J.E. Gardiner

Even more than the remarkable performance, as a conductor it shows the standard of scholarship and attention to nuance required to perform Bach's music. What a remarkable accomplishment, among many for Mstro. Gardiner.

I see from her other recordings how Sara Mingardo is inclined to use more vibrato, but in this case is kept beautifully under control by maestro Gardiner. Her recitative here is exquisite and is a total delight!

Coro: SCTB. Trompetas I-IV, timbales, oboes I-III, fagot, violines I/II, viola y continuo Texto original en alemán del título y Coro 1º (1 Coro [s,c,t,b]) ¡Christen, ätzet diesen Tag In Metall und Marmorsteine!

Wonderful recording.

I love that he brings up Bach saying that, whenever people gather to play this music with a sincere heart, God is present. That is not in the least heretical (Jesus himself said something even more inclusive), and it’s also my experience.

The Calvinist perverts would disagree with us, but, yes, Bach followed Luther's lead that music, dance and song, brings forth the joy of Christ.

Impressive how well Gardiner understands, how to pronounce the German Words correctly.
