Very enlightening. Do you believe there were symbolic undertones like Mozart's pieces, or do you believe Bach's songs were strictly and intentionally Christian? I always felt there were undertones of double talk language when listening to Bach, but when I read the lyrics, they were more simpler than the arrangements and emotions. But I don't believe Bach was into those type of things as Mozart. Maybe inspired .

That’s a great question. I really think one of the amazing things about this music is that we can all see what we want in it. Those who want to see Bach as the quintessential devout church musician will find that and those who question if he truly was a Christian will hear undertones. We really don’t know what he was thinking, or what exactly he was trying to write in the music, but because it’s all done with such sincerity towards creating a profound musical experience and really telling a story we all get to have our own experience of it.

Thank you for the great information, and beautiful performances. You seem to have some technical difficulties with the recording. Angela You sing so beautifully, but I am hearing disturbing "slap back" echoes from the plaster walls, You seem to be slightly ahead of the beat. Anna the harpsichord sound needs a little more fundamentals on the bass and less of those loud boxy damper falling sounds. (is that electronic?) If it is an acoustic instrument, it needs to be mic'ed toward the middle of the bridge of the bass strings but as far away as possible from those noisy dampers. Katrina's flute sounds fine, actually beautiful. as each of You do in solo passages... somehow the synchronization isn't right. I guess this is a zoom recording. Perhaps there is a recording engineer who can help synch things up, and get the tonality of the mix a little better the next time.
