Wow, some of that must be exhausting, the fast and repeating intervals that constantly break the air flow, especially in the trumpet part of the arrangement, make it sound like they can't breathe for a long time, and that trill in the trombone at 5:50 ... I am speechless. All of them are astounding musicians.

Everyone is talking about the tuba and trombonist, and don’t get me wrong, they’re absolutely astonishing, but we should also pay some mind to that horn player that is absolutely killing every partial and jump as if it’s nothing. And as a horn player, I can tell you that it’s much easier to do jumps like that on the other instruments than the horn. Mad props to him.
@AOSMAKAKMS2 жыл бұрын
Don’t they write a shit ton of jumps for horns?

The first three notes-as the trumpets start the piece in octaves-are sooooooo nicely in tune! Tough to do at the best of times, especially on a cold start, but it's so important to get this opening right; and they nail it! And, from the whole group, the rest of the piece is 99.9% in tune as well. The only glitch that bothered me was the trumpets from 1:12-1:28 when they didn't sound like they were alternating sixteenth notes precisely. But that's the only nitpicking I will engage in. My verdict: I loved this version!

Let me say as the tubist father of a Suzuki violinist that the string players of this world are overall light years ahead of the brass. My recommendation to you would be to grab the Suzuki Violin or Cello books and CD and learn, now that you are a mature musician, how to approach music through the eyes of a violinist or cellist. Copy the artistry you hear on a Suzuki CD and make your own music with the backing tracks. It will be a musical awakening for you. These guys are pros, no doubt, but let’s not write checks we can’t cash when talking about other instrument families.
