It sounds like a weird mishmash of African, Spanish, and Cuban/Puerto Rican musical styles. I guess that's what Bachata is, in essence.

Logr3 Bachata? Bachata is based some ballad style from Spain, I think Bolero? And, yes, Caribbean music is all over the place with its influences. I know the Spanish ones like the trumpets and rhythm. The African is in the drums. Those giant African drums.

Although each artist, when interpreting bachata, could add their own musical influences, as it happens in this track that is sounding in that video, where the interpreter comes from Haitian roots, the dominican bachata, although very varied, is unique like musical genre. I recommend and invite you to also listen and see good bachata from other artists, such as Antony Santos, Zacarías Ferreira, Raulín Rodríguez, Joe Veras, Luis Miguel del amargue, El Gringo de la Bachata, Luis Vargas, Frank Reyes, Teodoro Reyes, Kiko Rodríguez, Ramón Cordero, El Chaval, Héctor Acosta, Eddy López, among many others artists of the same category, in order to have a more complete and precise idea, and you can speak with absolute propriety of what is really our musical genre typical of the Dominican Republic, called BACHATA.

you have to look at the video again. The count is not Salsa. The count one two three four has the up beat as one instead of four. So when we go to Dominican Republic, we are off beat I guess. lol
