Dave: I think we can label this post-season period as “ The Awakening of Matt James.” He is learning about his lady love, himself, and social responsibility. Do you think that - during the actual season- Matt thought about how that meeting his father would be portrayed or received ? I don’t! He seemed perfectly satisfied with the outcome; he announced to all 3 women that the meeting had proved that “I am not my father. I am nothing like him.” It was like he was saying, “There! I really told him!” In fact, what he really did was regurgitate his mother’s issues with his father. He didn’t understand that he, too, was embracing certain stereotypes. But, during this recent period he became much more aware of the exploitative nature of the show, and he issued that statement to distance himself from the production. Dave, I have worried that you associate Matt’s situation too closely with your own. But there are major differences. For example, his father seems to have “been around” more than yours. You met your father when you were 16? We don’t really know how often Matt saw his father, but he did see him. While you two may have a shared sense of abandonment and loss, we have the clear impression that Matt was angry with his father about a lot of other stuff as well - that he was carrying a lot of water for his mother. Anyhow, I’m glad you are taking a little more time before airing your response to that situation. I recommend that you view Nikki Star, “Meet Matt’s Daddy.” She talks a lot of foolishness but she is also very smart. Start the counter @ 17:00. I recommend her much more highly than King Hussein😬. In fact, I’d love to see you and Nikki in a joint production.

I agree 100% with your perspective. It was clear from pictures of Matt’s life shown at the beginning of the season that his father was around. When he spoke with his father, the issue seemed to be more about his parents marriage then issues of fathers presence in his life. He and especially his mother need extensive intensive therapy to work through their issues!!!

Hi Dave! No offense but something about the way you deliver your content always makes me laugh. My sister and I, growing up, used to notice that anytime we knew someone was being funny in general, we would love anticipating the next laugh, and would always find them to be hilarious! You remind me of that. I think it’s the way you know how to hoan it in or pile it on, and how you keep a masterful command over all the dialogue. It’s captivating. Your point of maybe they want to use her race discussion with Matt for the After show could actually be true, but to me personally it felt like it was as if the show didn't want to maybe bring more controversy to it bc it's dealing with the contestant with past racial insensitivity. I felt a type of way that they edited out bc for me it felt like maybe they're trying to show they don't want to "support" her in any way? Like, knowing the rumors that execs and producers advised Matt to kind of distance himself from her makes me wonder like is it a coincidence? I think it's messed up regardless but like you said Dave, we will have to wait till next week for all these answers from this complete crap storm. I think it's left out because they want to avoid triggering the public. The way to get rid if controversy is to not talk about it sometimes. Here’s one thing I know about sorority antebellum balls in the south. Half the time you are required to go whether you want to or not due to the fact that the sorority sisters will make you life an ever living hell if you don’t. Some people can go as far as getting you kicked out of the college. I’d also like to add, sometimes people just don’t think about the weight these parties carry. They simply just follow the herd without any understanding of the history behind it. I do not condone antebellum parties because I believe the celebration and history behind it is disgusting, but I think Rachel Kirkonelle deserves a little grace. She is not a racist. She is simply a person in need of knowledge surrounding the matter.
