@@Richard-lh3te I never said Latino was a race. I said Latinos can be very racist which they can be. I am well aware that being Latino is being a broad mix of races or even just one race depending on ancestry and how/when your ancestors migrated to the south/central America’s or other island like PR, DR, or Cuba. I myself am Colombian but my race is European, native, and a portion of African. Example in Argentina there is a LARGE portion of white Latinos because a lot of German people migrated there after the Holocaust, same as Cuba. I have many Cubans friends, because I live in Miami, and when they lived in Cuba they always speak about their parents not letting them play outside because they didn’t want them mingling with darker/black Cuban kids.

Now we want to be exalted, over compensated and the “white community” to also hurt and be punished endlessly for the pain caused & experienced. How does this help anyone? Healing is necessary but us retaliating is what feeds the disunity. Healing comes from enlightenment, repentance and forgiveness. But many of us are so hurt we don’t want to forgive. That’s my issue with Rachel L. It’s never enough for her. Accountability doesn’t equal bullying. Asking Rachael and her family to acknowledge and commit to change regarding their racist past is not bullying. Let’s stop with that narrative it takes away responsibility on this family for their history of ignorance. It’s disrespectful to the Black and indigenous communities who have been offended and disrespected. In reality BIPOC did not create racism. White people did! So they should absolutely be holding other White people accountable in regards to racism. Also her mom trying to break down every little bit of that party is so annoying. Let’s look at the facts, they willingly and happily took pictures on a plantation. They were all adults. Adults know the history of a plantation. I’m going to leave that at that. Also if it wasn’t a bad party why did her college not allow that specific “ball” on campus? I’m from Rhode Island. We have our own huge past in slavery that I learned about when I was 16/17. If I took pictures on a plantation at that age or when I was older I would apologize for it and not try spinning it to being a “New England ball” when pictures were taken on a plantation. I would’ve rather her mother just say, “Hey, we ignored some racism in the past because it didn’t affect us. We’re learning, and we’re trying to be better, give us some time.” Then try and defend every little thing. It takes away the responsibility she has for her actions. Forth Synth (one of the most racist counties in this country ) is known for their racism so none of this is surprising. I get her mom wants to protect her daughter’s mental health and image but you can also acknowledge the hurt, disrespect, and ignorance brought in to Black and Indigenous communities. It’s really annoying she’s trying to speak about everyone of her daughter’s actions when I’m reality she doesn’t know what Rachael was thinking when she did all of this so she can try and defend her but can’t say what she was thinking when she did it. 🤷🏾♀️ I’ll finish by saying this. Racism didn’t start in 2020. It’s existed for centuries. Some White people are just acknowledging racism and trying to be anti racist because of 2020 and that’s great but you’re also accountable to start at home with this anti racist work and look at your own past, acknowledge it (not defend every little thing) and do better. Simple. I don’t think she deserves any bullying or death threats but she definitely needs to prove how she’d do better. Talk is cheap 🤷🏾♀️

It is absolutely disgusting that in 2021 or any year for that matter, that black people and people of color are always some how to blame when white people are blatantly racist or ignorant to any other race but their own. Does she deserve death threats? Absolutely not. However, black and people of color calling her out on this should be happening. Every race should be calling her out. While I think her words are sincere it is her actions that will be speaking the most. I am white, and I would never tell any other race how they should feel when it comes to ignorant or racist comments and pictures. People who are killed everyday for the color of their skin do not have the luxury to be ignorant so why do white people somehow get a free pass? Black people have every right to feel hurt and angry and every other emotion you feel. So does Matt. He has no obligation to be with her or guide her on this journey. In 2021 we shouldn't feel like black people should be holding our hands and teaching us how to be less racist and ignorant. Her mom somehow trying to down play this and not understand it is a true testament to how Rachel is the way she is. Oh yeah she is the one who should be taking accountability for sure, but it just goes to show you that racism is not something we are born into but something we are taught. I hope that her actions speak as loud as her words. And I hope that they find peace. Also, I am glad that we are talking about this issue. It is about time that us white people start getting comfortable with being uncomfortable. I hope this is just the beginning. And God bless to you. The KAs at MSU had the Rose Ball, and they took the pics at their frat house, which is a giant, Southern-style home, so I’m wondering if Rachel’s Rose Ball pics could have been taken in front of the KA frat house, too, before they left for the beach portion of the trip. It is common for fraternity parties to last over an entire weekend and include travel. This story sounds 100% true to me and my sorority/frat experiences.

i feel like rachael’s mom taking this to court would not only be a bad PR move but also she probably wouldn’t win. this would be taken to civil court and the burden of proof would be on rachael/her mom whoever the plaintiff is. the burden of proof is also different than a criminal trial for which instead of being “beyond a reasonable doubt” it is a preponderance of evidence which means more likely than not. basically this means rachael/her mom would have to prove “more likely than not” that she didn’t bully madi. given that many other people have come out with similar stories about rachael bullying them and there’s a lot of other circumstantial evidence that points to rachael allegedly being racist, she probably would lose this lawsuit. even if she pulled an OJ and somehow won, nobody would believe her (even if she really didnt do it) and her reputation is already ruined because that’s just 1 of many racist things rachael has allegedly done that have been u earthed and this is after she apologized so the sincerity of her apology would be jeopardized.

@Art Vandeley I do not know Rachael, I do not know her personal beliefs nor do I know if she's "racist." I would venture that she is NOT. My point is that because of the *accusations* against her -- valid or otherwise, Rachael has been given a platform to "shine a light" on the topic of navigating issues of race. I stand against canceling those we *assume* to reject mainstream thought or those who decline to engage in "virtue signaling." I only know that Rachael, *herself,* made the statement, "My ignorance was racist." My point, again, is that Rachael has been given an opportunity and a platform.
@gj16953 жыл бұрын
@Art Vandeley The additional point I was trying to make is that since Rachael's family has defended her -- instead of staying quiet, and since Rachel made a very public statement acknowledging her own "racism," no one will believe their *words* until they take *action.* They could have very well chosen to stay quiet. But they chose to commit to "doing better." Now they have put themselves in the position to have to DO that.

@@DaveNealComedian Dave what is concerning is how we as a society act as if social media is necessity or that the opinions of strangers matter. We have control over what we consume. I am not defending what people are doing, but Rachael has the choice to not read what is on social media or to not have one at all if it is detrimental to her health. Chadwick Boseman, Black Panther, said Marvel made him get one and Anthony Mackie (Falcon) said he does not have it and only spends a limited amount of time on his phone per day and immerses himself in things that make him happy. If this stuff bothers you that much that is what people need to do. Also it is unrealistic to think that most people will move from anger and oppression in a matter of months. For some it is going to take years to deal with emotions and not everyone has the benefit of counseling etc. to assist with that. The media focuses on negativity these days, but that says a lot about the consumers. If we show them that we don't want those types of stories then maybe they would go back to reporting on the positive. It was just as easy to write that story about the good Rachael is trying to do without focusing on the negative.

Also you can’t get those dresses from a mainstream store. You have to rent them from old south/antebellum costume stores, where those dresses are advertised as antebellum style dresses right next to the traditional grey confederate uniforms. Plus her mom didn’t really help her case by saying it was a southern belle party since that’s just the white washed version of old south/antebellum. The Southern belles term was based on the young, unmarried woman in the plantation-owning upper class of Southern society. How does saying it was a southern belle party help Rachael’s case?

I hope that this is a moment that many will take to have the really tough courageous conversations that are needed to help heal our extremely sick country of its original sin, RACISM.

African Americans are also Animus against Latinos
@EatWell23QWB3 жыл бұрын
@@simonsimon8572 To the degree that groups of humans in modern society have been plagued by the human construct of race it is very likely that there is some animus across all groups. That being said, there is an actual caste system (BOOK- Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents by Isabel Wilkerson) in America, as well as in other countries, that determines ones level on a race hierarchy. Research shows examples that the more melanin you possess in your skin in America, the lower your station in our caste system. As I mentioned in a previous comment, educating (and reconnecting to our spirituality) ourselves about America’s history of race, racism, and white supremacy will help us to eradicate the original sin of, RACISM.

I could sympathize with Rachel and understand that people change, however I can’t say the same thing about Chris Harrison. His rhetoric was vile and covertly racist. I do think people can change and become educated, I don’t think he should be cancelled, bu I also don’t think his word should be taken lightly bc he said them with his whole chest so...

Thank you for covering this side. I think it is tragic that Rachel K has been made "the face of this contraversy". Why are all the other women in the photos blacked out. Millions of people are responsible for the racism. I believe her mom's story and I think it is tragic that Chris Harrison's efforts to offer Rachel some support were fumbled.

Maybe she was ignorant because why would you go on a dating show that ends in an engagement with the first African American Bachelor if you're racist? If she's racist then she would be pretty dumb to go on the show with the first African American Bachelor because everyone knows they dig into your past. Bachelor nation is a hot mess. As a Latina with African American ancestors, I was surprised that Rachel's dad was brown if she's racist. Sometimes the media spins things and people lie. Also, she seemed totally in love with Matt.
@HaleyVic173 жыл бұрын
I don't think Rachael is intentionally racist. Her actions in the past might have been though. I too dont see how if you're racist, why would you even want to be around the race that you hate, let alone kissing, touching, etc on that particular person.

Social media has given everyone the ability to have a voice, which is great on one hand but unfortunately this also means that persons can give their un-informed opinions as well, along with giving persons with poor intentions the ability slander, and libel persons. In social media there’s no innocent until proven guilty but rather guilty until/if you can prove your innocence. We hear a story and we’re quick to give an opinion.

I like how the fact that Rachel didn't go to the same school as the girl accusing her/her friend group of bullying is being used as proof lol. I knew and was friends with plenty of kids from other schools, that's normal especially for someone outgoing/social/invovled like Rachel and that her town's population is only 4k - I bet most people know each other.

i guess it depends on the local area. My whole life growing up was kids who went to my school, lol. So I agree that its not proof to exonerate her, but at the same time, if its true they didnt know each other then its odd. There is an award in social media for outting people as bad. Ive said this all along, find me a group of girls in high school that werent part of a friend group that had problems. Its not specific enough for me. Id almost like for more of Rachaels hs friends to speak about this. Maybe theres truth to it, but also its an easy accusation to throw at someone.

Yea my sister had the same experience in high school. Girls from middle school or dance or work, would bully her and threatened her. They even mentioned fighting her. And they did not go school with each other. So just bc they may not go to school doesn’t mean they don’t know each other.
@kyla91913 жыл бұрын
@@DaveNealComedian Yeah for sure. I think there's likely some truth to it. My theory is that Rachael was popular and was friends with some "mean girls" that perhaps did bully this girl. Rachael probably laughed along, and didn't directly participate but didn't stop it either and doesn't even remember because it was inconsequential to her at the time. But the girl who felt bullied by the group remembers because it was a big deal to her
@annasteig29233 жыл бұрын
@@kyla9191 Yeah I agree. Honestly Rachael was like this on the Bachelor show. She never bullied anyone, but she also would smile when the new girls were being bullied by the other girls and would stay silent instead of defending them...so technically she didn't bully the new girls, but smiling about it was enabling it, and her silence was complicit.

Lmao you really don’t understand God! We reap what we sow. If we’re going to sow in sin, we will reap the consequences and that goes for ALL of us. Right now, just like all of us who disobeyed God, we are reaping what we sowed- it’s called consequences for our actions! You can’t have your cake and eat it. God doesn’t work like that! He also chastised us like a Father or a Parent would. Also, this mess has nothing to do with God, this was purely Rachel’s choice (and actions) and the results for it. Please don’t include Him in something He had no partake of. On the other hand, she needs to spend more time with Him and repent, that way she can truly heal and mature in faith!

So Rachel came out with an apology that recognizes that “some truths has come to light”, in terms of allegations against her,she has basically owned up to them, but now her mom is going around walking back everything? The old south party, now wasn’t an old south party, the linking a picture with a confederate flag, was only because she didn’t recognize the flag?, now she is part Latin therefore can’t be racist? Why did she come out with an apology then? She should have come out with a defense statement, denying everything.smh, we get it mom, defend your baby!
@debracampbell97273 жыл бұрын
The way Rachel handled herself on the bachelor seemed very real. Why wouldn’t it have been a southern bell party ? I would love to dress up like that. I would never consider myself racist because of that.But I’m not aware of this in the south.So please no hate . I’m from PA and live in a mixed community and we have no racial problems here. Yes there is racism and Harrison clearly did not address this situation. I think there’s something wrong with why Harrison acted that way.. I’m not defending him but he has been in the public for so long and he’s always been professional. The way I see it is he’s part of the establishment was he made to start a racial divide because that’s what is going on now. They want us devided . Racism at any level is wrong. Matt has been one of the most sincere bachelor ever. I hope he finds love. There were times in the show where I think Matt wanted out.. that’s just my opinion. A truly sensitive man like Matt should not have had to go threw all the nonsense he was put threw.
