My favorite part of the show was seeing how determined the final 20 contestants were to keep things civil and even collegial. Roland became my favorite when he suggested that everyone should only jump once on the glass bridge. It was also heartening how everyone decided to nominate themselves in the dice game, even when they could’ve used Ashley‘s self preservation on the glass bridge as justification for targeting her. Instead, they forgave her and maintained an environment of kindness (I mean, the group could’ve targeted Ashley, but as soon as she was eliminated, it would’ve been unfair for everyone after her elimination who would then have to nominate themselves). And at the end when Phil signed “good luck, Mai”, I found it so thoughtful because Jackie’s dream for participating on the show was to increase representation of deaf culture, and Phil remembered that in his last moment in the spotlight.

@@ntokozomoyo2371 I mean, technically Trey got himself eliminated. It was 17 to 1, everyone else could’ve applied more pressure to Ashley. My read on the post-bridge situation was that they wanted to keep the dice game fair because once they eliminated Ashley, everyone else would have to nominate themselves for elimination. Whereas everyone who nominated Ashley would not have had to have nominate themselves. Plus, multiple players seemed to express an understanding of why Ashley did what she did. Like when Sam was saying that they couldn’t fault Mai for playing her game for herself, that same logic applies to Ashley. I’m sure they were all tempted to do the same thing, so they had grace for each other.

In the behind the scenes, the creators said they were surprised at how the players managed to turn that game against them.

I feel like a fair part of the "direct murder" in the show was: Strength in numbers, and strength in actual strength. The big brutes have an advantage in being strong, and popular players have an advantage in having many friends to support them. But the vast majority of eliminations were '1 player chooses other player(s)', which kind of defeated the point. You can have a gganbu gang and it doesn't matter because a single person can just pick off 2-3 of you on a whim anyways. And that single person wasn't voted champion most of the time, they were just randomly selected or blindly volunteered not even knowing what they were volunteering for.

The original Squid Game wasn’t fair. You couldn’t predict wether you would win or get eliminated / killed. I liked that this show also didn’t try to be somewhat fair either. I also don’t believe that the shapes in the second last game weren’t random. In Korea - and maybe other Asian countries as well - a circle usually means yes and a cross means no. Since the dice can also resemble a cross, it made sense that it turned red and the triangle turned grey. But if you don’t know about that part of culture, it turns into a game of randomness.

I mean the whole show originally was meant to simulate capitalism, which is unfair at picking winners and losers, like sometimes merit will win out, but at the end of the day the strata that you enter into will be the strata that you die in, without substantial amounts of luck. And the game show within the universe of Squid Game itself wasnt meant for the masses, it was intended for the uber-rich benefactors. That's why the Challenge feels so hollow, because in the show, the the crazy rich dont actually care about the contestants because like in real life it doesnt actually affect them, but to one watching the challenge and taking it seriously and are beset by realities of life, we will take those unfair knocks personally. It's all about the framing. Watching Squid Game puts you in the shoes of the main character experiencing the game, watching The Challenge puts you in the shoes of the heartless rich benefactors. It was always bound to feel...yucky.

At first I liked the twist of Rock Paper Scissors but since only one player used their brains it became boring. Mai and the guy eliminated before the final would have made great TV. Though that is how you know the game is not rigged because the players with the best TV connection kept getting sent home. Great for surprise, but I can't say I was vested in Mai winning.

I didn''t like how Mai slandered TJ and called him fake and even mentioned taking him out, then the very next game he picks her first to be saved. Then again on the glass bridge game he picks her to go last. So many of you have give her a pass but I think it showed her true colors in that moment. This guy hadn't done nothing to here and was sincere meanwhile she was pretending to be his friend when she really didn't like him and thought he was fake. But in reality she was the one who was fake.

While I dialiked tests too because people couldn't fight to stay in similar to Love Island Games, Phalisia not "this Lady" lol chose to get rid of two strong and popular players who were in an alliance and flying under the radar. It was a very smart and strategic move gamewise. Tbh I thought there was going to be a twist where after they were "eliminated" they can fight to stay in or some quiz or something because it was unfair and just a way to cull over 400 players down.

@jrodgers21111 ай бұрын
The tests were good I think, in the original they were fighting and killing each other in the dorm, the tests were a way to simulate that part of the game, also you do know what the advantage is, the next game was marbles, he wasn’t going to have to play. Worst episode was by far the finale
@anthonymartinez687511 ай бұрын
Not for nothing, but did everybody forget that, just like in the bridge game in the original show, any player could have either shoved any one player off the bridge or at least threaten them with shoving them off should they not do their part?? There were literally no rules prohibiting that. Plus this would have gold starred this episode AND the show would have had a redeeming quality.

Am I the only one who thinks that it was all rigged? I don't believe for a second that the random games were actually random. The producers had total control over who would win during those, including the last game. They could easily make a lock that has some type of mechanism that could be controlled electronically, so the key can turn.
@Isabel-bx9ym11 ай бұрын
Yeah that could definitely have happened. I wondered if someone couldnt just pick the actual key the first time. The game would have been really short.. but your suggestion makes a lot of sense.
@bobrandom554511 ай бұрын
@@Isabel-bx9ym Yeah, the thing is, since Mai came into the picture, it seemed obvious to me that people would want her to win. So, her winning would make a lot of sense and would make people like the show more. From a show maker's perspective, it makes sense to introduce "random" games where you have total control over the story. Viewers would get really excited by this unexpected person overcoming prejudice and winning the show. It's the typical underdog story. It's a story that works really well, and obviously it worked really well in this case. EDIT: It's also pretty funny how the last three contestants were already underdogs. One gay person with a shitty past, one non-binary person. And one immigrant with quite the story
