Robbie Bachman was a very underrated drummer. There are some later videos of Robbie playing very good solos with double bass pedals. R.I.P. He'll certainly be missed.

This is based on nothing but my own opinion, but after I got into BTO as a teen, I started thinking of Rob as the Ringo Starr of hard rock, because his parts could be fairly unique and fit the songs. I’m only sorry that he and Randy couldn’t patch up the ownership of the name thing. Hopefully, they did before he died.

Rest well Robbie. 😔🙏. BTO's records were a huge deal for me in the 70s. I was lucky enough to see them live at their peak around 76 or so. I still have the poster/programme and BTO frisbee I bought at that show, as well as the BTO biography paperback by Martin Melhuish and the entire BTO discography. A sad week for rock and roll! 😥.

It's sad for me to hear about Robbie. I went to see BTO in January 1975 and as a drummer he was great. We have lost so many drummers in the past couple years. Thanks John

I saw BTO with Robbie around 1993 at a gig called the 70's Superfest with Dr. Hook, Rare Earth, The Guess Who (no Burton or Randy), and BTO with Robbie, Randy, Fred, and Blair. Robbie played his patented drum solo with his hands. One of my favorite concerts of all time.

Look up their "Japan Tour Live" album one of my favorite single live albums, has a good Robbie drum solo. Robbie made a comment when they were inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame (2014), that made me wonder if he was ill. At the time of their hey day, BTO was my favorite band. I was really into all things coming from Canada. Best of BTO was one of the first 3 albums I bought with my own "snow shoveling money." RIP Robbie, one of my favorite big drum sounds.

Thoughts and prayers going out to his wife Chrissy, his brothers Randy and Tim and his many fans, friends and musical brothers all over the world. John, please try to do an interview with Fred Turner and/or Blair Thornton. Time is running out on our childhood heroes.

BTO was my first favorite real rock band. I was 16, and with my parents at the Indiana State Fair. BTO was playing in the grandstand. And, I got to go in, near the end, and hear Takin' Care Of Business. I was totally mesmerized and hooked! Now, I'm 61, and still love their music! My favorite BTO song is 'Rock Is My Life And This Is My Song'. RIP Rob. By the way, is Tim another brother?

Yesterday in the livestream about Lisa Marie Presley, his name was brought up, but it didn't ring a bell with me. I knew of Randy Bachman and that there was a Turner, but I didn't know the other names. And I didn't even know that Lisa Marie had her own singing career! I spent some of today learning about her music. I guess yesterday was not lucky for people who did a song called "You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet".

John, Fairly new US subscriber here. Love your flow of content, passion, and occasional Canadian references. Rock… the collective journey and universal religion we share. Loved BTO. Some of those tunes go straight to the soul! Guess we’ll lean on each other as we lose these folks that so influenced our youth. Always surreal.

Why wasn’t Down To The Line released on the Head On album? DTL was released as a single in November 1975 and the Head On album merely a month later in December 1975. It seems to defy the logic at the time when a single would be released just prior to an album tied to that single. Always wondered about that.

C,F. Turner told me that it was the record label that insisted on doing a single that wouldn't be available on an album...it was a trend at the time by some recording industries and they had no control over that stupid decision..Initially Randy Bachman claimed that he wrote the song but was successfully sued by Mark Anthony and Kim Fowler . They proved in court that the riff was taken from an Alice Cooper song that they wrote called escape.

Robin and I became late night facebook messenger friends after he made a nice comment of a video of me doing Ozzy Crazy Train on Halloween. (Search Craig Weidner, or Ozzy Weid). I go to my page and there's a friend request from Robin. I didn't believe it was Robin at first, It turned out it was. He even called me a few times. I wanted to meet him, but it never happened. It was so cool becoming a friend with a guy I saw years ago when I was so young. The guy from a band that I loved and still love. I was very sad when I heard.

Yes, Gary played on Bachman-Turner Overdrive album but its was the one from 1983 or 1984 and Tim Bachman was on it as well. Kind of confusing because they used the same title.
