We were so lucky to grow up in the 70's, I am 60 now and look at today's teens and think they will never know true happiness. Hours of being outside, playing, using your imagination. A time that is lost forever. I am sure other say that about the 40's, 50's and 60's. But the 70's was a kind of unique time period. Good luck all!

I am 26, my dad loved this song and plenty of 70s music when I was a kid and I still do. It's not all bad. As a teenager I was granted access to the internet, something that dweebs in the 70s could only dream of. I much preferred that to playing outside. I never had to deal with spending all my money on vinyl records or nude mags. I never had to spend hours in the library reading encyclopedias, when the entire sum of human knowledge was readily available. With my mobile device I can videocall people like Star Trek, I can order (overpriced) food of any cuisine to my door, but at least it's available. I was never exposed to lead or asbestos (although we got microplastics for that now.) I never had to be drafted to war (and if they try that now, that would absolutely tear this country apart.) Plus today's weed apparently beats the snot out of anything at Woodstock. If you really want to know the difference between your time and now, it's that no one believes in institutions anymore. We know too much. Every institution is evil and self-interested, and with the absence of religion, people have no rigid moral code forcing them to be good. We all know the world sucks, it's overpriced, it may end in the next few years to either WW3 or climate change. There's no hope for the future, no Soviet Union to overcome. It's a daily grind, trying to keep your head above water as the cost of living keeps rising. Sorry to get serious. It's a good song! Rock obviously ain't the same today as it was then, but there's other music today. Hip hop, electronic dance music, etc. What matters is how it makes you feel

The Fender Strat is ubiquitous in Rock. The Fender Telecaster is also a staple piece. But that Gibson SG that Blair Thornton is playing is THE cornerstone guitar of most every Rock band of renown since it was first developed. BTO, AC/DC, Derek Trucks, Black Sabbath, The Doors, Uriah Heep, Frank Zappa...and the list goes on.

@ Pandora, true! I love the story behind the stuttering. I thought it was genius!
@antithugpro11909 жыл бұрын
Randy Bachman recorded this version as a joke to his brother Gary, who was a stutterer. It was intended for him to hear only. But their new album needed a song with "magic" to it that had a chance of becoming a number 1 hit, something the album lacked. So Charlie Fach of Mercury studios came by to talk to Randy about coming up with another song for the album. Randy said he had something, and played this "joke tape" to sample Fach the song and promised to be redone without the now famous "stuttering" if it was accepted for the new album. When Fach heard the tape he said "That's the track! It's got a brightness to it...it kind of floats a foot higher than the other songs when you listen to it!" Fach wanted the song as it is, with the stutter! Randy tried to re-record it without the stutter but it came out not sounding too good. So, they kept the stutter in. After it's release it quickly hit number 1 on Billboard. True story.

As a brown-eyed teenaged woman in 1974/75, this seemed like a female empowerment song. "She looked at me with big brown eyes, and said: You ain't seen nothing yet, here's something you're never going to forget!" We girls had a secret knowledge that we could astonish our boyfriends while making love! "Here's something you're never going to forget." Great fun and adventures, we had the Pill and this was prior to the dangers of HIV. Oh, the wonderful 70s! Love this song and the memories. Thanks, BTO!

You ain't seen nothing yet, GREAT lyric, tho it needs more COWBELL!!!! bye, the bye, apparently the Pil, -recent documentary in the UK, can cause nasty things, but if you were in your teens in the 70's it wont be a worry to you now , Hey you must be nesrly the same age as me, It took a while to work out, did I mention I LOVE brown eyed gurls, like the song - Van Morrisson, pps, you wouldn't be a ginger as well?
@reginaschellhaas1395 Жыл бұрын
@@johnsmyth3281 The Pill, we took our chances. Pregnant out of wedlock was incredibly dangerous, in so many ways in the late 70s. I got married in 1980, continued to take the Pill until it (possibly?) was affecting my BP. In my late 20s, we had access to minimally invasive surgical procedures, thankfully. It may seem a bit strange to have surgery, but years later, medical knowledge had improved and I knew that I was a carrier of a genetic disease that had affected my sibling. So a good choice. I remember the Van Morrison song, very well! And always thought he was singing to me! That made me very happy! I must have had some gingers as ancestors, because my natural light brown hair had a reddish cast, and I have golden brown eyes, same skin tone, very fair. But alas, I can only aspire to be a Ginger. My hairdresser does her best to cover the gray, and make my hair as red as possible. So sweet of you to think of me as a gurl! I'm in my mid-60s, if that helps. Just because we are older people, doesn't mean we didn't have wonderful adventures! We listened to incredible music, went to phenomenal concerts , etc. I'm glad I had those opportunities. Also got to visit the UK, mostly northern England & Scotland, lovely country and people. Best wishes to you!

“Way back when, my brother Garry, one of four Bachman boys, had a speech impediment; he stuttered and stammered. For the ultimate tease I wrote a song like he spoke. Then I called him up and scared him by telling him it would be on the album. “The words just flowed out without thought: ‘I met a Devil woman, and she took my heart away.’ That sounded good. Then for the chorus I copied the way he’d say: ‘You ain’t seen n-n-nothing yet,’ and also the way he stumbled on ‘f-f-forget’, and the way he said ‘b-b-b baby’. I liked it as an idea but I was never going to finish it off.” The song went to #1. Sadly, Randy's little brother Gary passed away this weekend RIP Gary.
