FD is excellent high end koi food, very hard to source in UK for many years, could be wrong but think peter waddington first brought it to the uk,our koi and our customers koi love the stuff! Body, colour and digestive health will all improve using this food, build up extra can also be mixed with fd supplement for great results, and bonus is this can be fed down to around 5deg 👍

Thanks Rob. Excellent info. I am pretty amazed of what I am seeing so far. Putting the shape on the koi where it should be.

Thank you Phil. Much appreciated. It was a relief, I was so worried about going even if we had people staying here and giving up updates every day. But they are ravenous at the moment, absolutely making us the 5 days with only 50gr a day 😁

Hi, thank you for watching. Worth in the end. A lot of koi struggle at the beginning, so try to trickle the food slowly with their current food.

Fantastic photos 👌 glad you had a great time and the pond faired really well while you was away, quick question, how do you find your shower ? And what size one is it please ?( I take it it’s the ones Gatwick koi sell ) thanks Andy 👍
@LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection Жыл бұрын
Hi Andy. I think it was called the Midi Tower. Really like it because it's not wide but each section is deep. And has large gap which helps with helps air aeration and gas off. I bought it 3 years ago from Kirky's koi. Really like it. I haven't fully filled up each section to help again with the gassing off. I like the small spill way so it's not too close to the koi. Yes I think Gary sells 3 types of those. One with the protein skimmer, one with the 4 inch pipe on the side and one like mine. They are good and stable. They come with a 2 inch spray bar that you need to drill yourself and the lid.

@@LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection that’s fantastic thank you, yeah that’s the reason I was looking at them, I want a shower that has plenty of air draw (like the Bakki’s have) thanks again 👌
@LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection Жыл бұрын
@andrewjones7670 I see, yeah I definitely recommend them. The gaps are at the front and at the back. It works well but make sure you don't fill up the trays to the top so you have that gap and gassing off properly. Let me know.

It was a pleasure to finally meet you last month. And thank you for the 2 koi, they are doing great. It was so kind of you, I will send you a little video again. Glad you had a good time, you look relaxed. I served in the Kosovo war, which was the final split of the country. I went back to visit a few years ago. Hard times to say the least.

You are very welcome. I just realised that I didn't talk about the koi I moved on in my previous video. I am glad they are doing well and thank you for the bag of food. It's incredible the number of people that served in the Kosovo war, my neighbour was in the bumb squad over there. It was on our door step when I lived in France.

Hi Lau, glad you had a good holiday, looked lovely🙂 Fish are looking great. Very vibrant. I use saki hikari but have looked at FD build up, price wise there's nothing in it really so it may be something I consider trying 🤷♂️ If you have any info I could take a look at on FD food to have a read at I'd be grateful 😊
@LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection Жыл бұрын
Hi Simon. I was in two minds about changing but my main reason is with the balance, the poo wasn't firm, often it was those cloud poo. Diarrhea basically. With the FD food, their poo comes out like toothpaste tube if that makes sense. I like the saki hikari growth but definitely not the balance. I thought it was worth a try. Mike and Lee have got some info on their website. But I'll ask Mike to give more info in our group 😉 But I will send you what I have already typed up.
@UpNorthKoiPond Жыл бұрын
@@LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection awesome 👍 and tbh, I kind of know what you mean about the balance, I'm using it at the minute as I'm at 18c and have noticed the odd occasion that they've had diarrhoea 🤔
@LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection Жыл бұрын
@UpNorthKoiPond yeah I have spoken to a fair few people and they have the same.thing with balance but not growth.
@K.W.P.R Жыл бұрын
Hi Lau , Simon , diarrhoea in koi is when you see clear stringy poo , not the cloudy poo you see with balance , 2 things cause that 1 when the poo sack ( like a sausage skin ) splits and the contents are realeased or 2 when you feed certain high quality foods in the right temperature the fish will absorb/digest almost everything they are taking in and the result is very little waste so little it is literally like dust , Any good poo should be as little as possible and even if it is small sausage shape if you try to pick that up it should disintegrate, anything that doesn’t, floats , or is clear is not good . FD has been around ages, Queni stocks it , my koi never gelled with it , even as it was introduced slowly , but others swear by it , it’s each to their own
@LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection Жыл бұрын
@K.W.P.R hi Martin, not what I have learnt from Mike van zijl. Dusty/cloudy poop is not the right thing to have. Toothpaste tube or sausage poo is more what you are after, firm substance, and as you said, as little as possible. Floating jelly stuff is undigested food. Normally orangy/yellow colour. Cloudy poo will pollute the water. Firm poo will go straight to the filters for those who are gravity fed. Lots of dealers are stocking it, Shosha koi, Queni obviously, Absolute etc..

Your fish are glowing with health, just what we aim for ! I came back from my family holiday in April to find an otter had killed 17 of my lovely young koi. My old fish had some split fins, scratches and one had her entire lower half of her tail bitten off, but they survived. My garden is hard to get into, but I've had to put up fencing to stop any further butchery. If you hear of any local attacks barricade your garden !
@LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection Жыл бұрын
Oh gosh, really sorry to read this Nick. That must have been hard. No otters here but foxes and cormorans and herons and seagulls. Lost a big matsukawabake two years ago to a fox. I was quite upset and angry for a while, hence the roof, the polycarbonate sheet around the pond and vertical net at the front. And thank you for the kind comment.

They are OK, not the best but once they grow I guess their bodies will improve too. But thank you. I didn't mean fat as in wide fat, but it's easy to see with the window, how can I explain, with the balance I feel they gained the fat a bit like when koi are fed too much with wheatgerm.

First year trying it results have been great considering they been in holding tank all most a year & a very reduced amount of feed. I’m most impressed with the growth they have put on, Especially my GKP & Wakefield koi grow & show showa from February was 26cm now 33-35cm When I get them out end of October for a measure up will send you some pics. Pond build is going ok weather is just not helping 😤😤
