Hi ya mate. the best and safest way to pick up a ray and put him back in the drink is two fingers and your thumb in his nostrels. and hold him away from you, then you can just give him a gentle toss back into a wave. Cheers.

Well it is very nice to see you back mate. I watched the RAY do a number on your hook and bait. I suppose it is still winter and I am looking forward to the summer (though I hate the heat) to enable me to get some flatties. Looking forward to your posts mate.

Nice skate! The wings or flaps are actually good eating and highly prized over in the UK.

Welcome home Steve. The beach looks a treat this morning, with a great sunrise. Best stock up on bait now you're home again. Lucky you only got a small skate, as a big one will give you a work out.

Thanks mcsee, I'll be happy if I never catch one again... lol Bit of fun though!

Hi Steve great to see your back safely and straight into it! The drone shots look awesome it really gives you a sense of how massive 90 mile beach is. Probably way colder here at home but more chance if catching a fish to eat!! Looking forward to Fridays 5 casts. Thanks Steve

That was a skate , never brush the sand off the wings as they are full of small spikes other than that you can grab them by the tail to drag them back in,welcome back mate ,cheers🎣

There were sharp spikes along each side of the tail, so thought I'd leave that alone.. lol Thanks Denis, good to be home 🙂

Welcome home! When you were wondering what was so heavy on your line, I was thinking it's probably 50 or 60 hungry crabs that had missed your regular feeding sessions!

Welcome home Steve….a friend of mine caught the bigger “skate” I have ever seen along the 90 mile between GB and Seaspray. I will be heading off tomorrow….I think you got home just ahead of the petrol price rises….Oh well, saving on accommodation so it all balances out I suppose.
