my question is, do/did you ever struggle with body image issues, or in general is that a big topic in the Olympic world since it is very competitive and focused around looks and performance?

Is it focussed around looks? I would have thought that performance is everything. Bodies become developed during training which is done solely for the purpose of winning their event in competitions. Judges don't give points on how the individual sportsperson looks, but on how they perform in their individual event/s.
