I don't know if it's just for the voice-over, but you're always pointing out every little thing you did well. A positive mindset is important, but if you look at the top players they're often critical of their games and are never tooting their own horns. It comes across as you being complacent and it really seems like you lack that cutthroat competitive nature/fire if you regularly go into matches with prejudices like "he's much more experienced than me" or "this will be a learning experience." Being too nice to yourself won't win you any matches. You actually need to believe you can win these from the get-go to do this, not having excuses to fall back on as backup from the start.

Yeah I fell that he has the all too common yet dangerous “I’ll play as best I can and if I lose I lose” mentality. It gives you an out. You really have to have the fire and say to yourself “ I’m not losing to this guy across the net”.
@frozendiamondz

Agree. When broken early at 3-1 in the first set: “I think inexperience, I’ve always had a shaky start but I’ve always made up for it in the games after…”. Not sure if having a mentality of accepting a poor start in all your matches is a good one. If that’s a problem then work on it. Play the early games with just as much importance as the later ones else you’ll find yourself in situations where you can’t make it up like this match. Find your rhythm and depth in the warm up. Toss the mentality of a being a player with a slow start and play hard from the beginning and think of yourself of a player who plays hard from point 1!! Keep up the hard work !

Not sure how it is in Europe, but I’ve played a ton of futures in the US this year and everybody has been decently fair. I think when you see the same faces week in and week out that if you start hooking people you’ll get a bad reputation quickly and people won’t want to practice with you.

Your analysis is great and commentary is entertaining for sure. I noticed when your opponent went high topspin to your response was either slice, runaround forehand to middle, tight blocking two-handed backhand. Your recovery is very very good but if you can find a way to mitigate that damage or even turn it into a strength, I think it will put pressure back on your opponent to rethink their strategy. This is just off a glance of highlights. Great work!

Bro, amazing Job. As a tennis player as well, I know it is easy for the others who are watching, to comment about your Game. However, the only thing I would say is that maybe you could have work more his weaknesses, like his backhand, lock him up in his backhand corner, in order to open the court, since that would lead him to play more inside-out forehands, opening his forehand side, also since he was slicing a lot with his backhand, there were many chances to go to the net, and etc. Of course, therefore it is so important that you dominate your own backhand crosscourt as well, which is something you, me, and probably all players have to improve. Best regards.

Hey can I just point out one tactical thing? This might be hard to notice in real life but the time difference between you both, specifically in getting back up from the ground after making the serve, was significantly in your favor. He was more unbalanced with his weight on his left side when rising up to rally, compared to your quicker and more balanced, centered, body position to rally. He might have a faster serve but if you were able to compact your swing or take the return earlier, and just redirect it away from him, without necessarily hitting it with loads of pace, he would have loads of trouble recovering. Just a note

Love the series, love your talent and love your game. Super Djokovic-esque with your strokes and movement. Can’t comment too much on the tennis, as I’m no where near your level. As a viewer though who is rooting for your success, I’m starting to find the branch of commentary a little gratuitous. It comes across as more excusatory and lacking a sense of true self-critique / analysis. Again, as a viewer I’m not sure if this commentary supersedes into your game mentality and whatnot, and therefore contributes to certain results, but it comes across that way. I get there’s some air to fill within the match and we are witnessing the minutiae of athletic performance and change, but may be worth brainstorming some different ideas? Perhaps guest-commentators? Or commentary from your coach? Also totally get that you’re still in teens and such. It seems tough to go through this athletic training, and then publicise your post-match thoughts for entertainment. Obviously commentating and filling space is an art in itself and not a main focus at the minute so totally get why it’d be a bit rushed over. Respect either way. Anywho, keep up the awesome work and love the content. It’s a pleasure whenever you upload!

Love your comment. Yes it's somehow weird to comment my own match - also if I comment hard on myself I get comments saying I need more self esteem. @@juliomunoz3772 I agree we should try to perfect everything aroud training so on game day it's easy bread! but i hope whoever reads this understands that: 1. If practicing perfect means not practicing until it is perfect, then practice anyways! and 2. Not everyone can afford Federer's coach or a Top 100 Coach but you can improve your environment day by day making it close to perfect! Keep on grinding 🏆(also don't take "perfect" literally, we can only get close, but even Djokovic is still developing everything. Room to improve gives an individual purpose!) There are many comments on how I comment my videos. When I go hard on myself the comments are mainly about that I need to be more positive - when I comment quite positive the comments tend to go along the way you commented. I guess there is no perfect way to comment. I obviously want to win, I hate losing more then anything! and I'm determined to win when playing - however in the selected scenes I show each week I like to strike a balance in terms of letting you guys know how I reflect on the match, what I felt in the match and how I tried to make it work for me - on the day. I don’t think you know your style yet. Have a lot of tactical learning to do. You have a big serve and forehand + know how to volley well yet you play on the defense most of the time with a player that was average at best. It is mental but you need to step in the court knowing that your game is all about and dictate. I still think you should have gone US D1 college. Have a lot of development to go. I know you've had an injury and that does explain a little bit why you're in your current position, but you need to play every single point like it's match point, that way when you get further into your career you will be much further developed and more skilled as a player. it's ok to not have an excuse for why you did poorly or didnt measure up to any expectations set by yourself or others. the best players in the world are super critical of themselves because they truly expect themselves to always win. just my two cents

Felix - am I missing something? I don't see one backhand of yours hit deep into his backhand corner. Not one. Please correct me if I am wrong. But, I see a ton of forehands you are hitting deep to his forehand. corner And on the ROS, why aren't you aiming your backhand towards the T on his backhand side? He has a slice backhand. For me, bells go off and I know I want to hit high, heavy topspin to his backhand. Those are a pain in the butt to return with a slice. So I would look to hit hard to his forehand to expose the backhand, then high, heavy topspin to his backhand. He will cough up short balls. Obviously, he is a talented player but I don't see your tactics clearly. Sorry if i sound like I am picking on you.

Hey aaa - yes I did not use my backhand to my advantage. Check out the coming video - I think I fixed this. ;-)

@@tennisbrothers Felix - I worry you are too nice a guy. LOL. You need a killer attitude and punish these guys' backhands (or weakness). Rafa is called "ruthless" for good reason. I'm rooting for you.

Hey felix, well played, love your mentality. I'm a tennis coach, and just want to share a little bit of advice for your serve. I don't know how tall you are but I'm 5'11 and can serve 130 (120 in matches). On your serve, you lose a lot of height when you commit to it. You have a normal knee bend but drive forward rather than diagonally up toward the ball. Next time you're practicing try too. (or don't, just some friendly advice) :) Good luck in the rest.

Hey felix I'm a big fan and I would like to give you some advice to look at your ratio to which side of the opponent your hitting e.g :3 backhands and: 1forehand so they hit more backhand 🤷‍♂️ just what I think could help I truly dont mean to criticize you

Unfortunate, next time you will get the point🙏🏼 I think what really cost you in this match is your backhand.. especially in your last service game you did not get depth on it at all, all landed short in the t. Maybe you should change the technique, you seem kind of limited on it and cant really go cross court deep if that makes sense

Clutch play on those match points, Felix! What I think can be improved - forehand earlier take back (your late preparation is really affecting your depth and consistency), one-two punch or serve-and-volley mix-up off the serve (you have a great first serve, and you are not winning as many free points off of it).
