Back On The Yamaha FZ09 And It Feels Good | Fast FZ09

It was a long time overdo to break out the Yamaha FZ-09 for a proper ride in the mountains. The last several weeks we have been focused on riding and training on dirt bikes in preparation for the upcoming off road riding season. It felt great to get back onboard the FZ and do a bit of street shredding with the guys. Thanks, really appreciate that support. The FZ-09 is a great bike. The new ones are more refined than my 2014 model. Mine can feel a bit "raw" sometimes. The new ones are much smoother, especially with how the throttle picks up revs off the bottom. Enjoy the bike buying process, it's always exciting getting something new.

@fastfz09 it's so good to see a fz vid. like the dirt biking but the way you ride the fz is what drew me to your channel and led me to get my own 2016 fz 09. which I love but I had one question. the vid that you did a long time ago about your suspension. is it still set up the way you had it in that vid or have you tweaked with it at all. We're about the same size and I ride the mountain the same way you do but I was just wondering. thank you for such a great channel. take care

Hey man, thanks for such a positive comment. That's awesome you bought a 16' model. Ever since we set my suspension to the settings I posted in that original suspension video from way back, I have not touched a thing. It's a setting I'm very confident on and have a lot of seat time with that setup. Appreciate you watching and enjoy riding that 16'!

you definitely give me faith in my MT09's stock suspension haha. have you ever felt the need to put a steering damper on it? the roads are pretty rough where I live and the bike has given me a few scares here and there when I got too cocky with the throttle lol. otherwise I have no complaints about the bike, it's super fun.

Thanks for watching man. The stock stuff is ridable, although not as good as aftermarket but a rider can still clip a good pace on stock components. The front end does get light on the FZ but an aftermarket shock that is valved correctly would eliminate a majority of that. I had a steering damper on a race bike we owned a few years back but I don't feel the need for one on my FZ. I can see where riders would want one, a tank slapper can get scary really fast. We ride dirt bikes and the bars moving around are not something that scares me anymore, not sure if that's a good thing...lol. Having said that I have no current plans to install a damper on my FZ. GPR makes great dampers and several manufactures make excellent linear dampers for the FZ-09. All worth a look if your interested in running one. You'd figure it out if you did it enough. It's just timing. Not all that different from weaving through traffic in SoCal.

Why cheat? stay to the right side of the yellow line, it's more fun and challenging, unless you don't like challenging and prefer a straighter line. I would be embarrassed to post a video like that. Try it next time

Hello..question on the FZ09 fueling. I finally got to test ride a 2015 at a dealer and I noticed the on off throttle response was abrupt or sudden making riding in the city at least hard to be smooth. Do you know which ecu flash/ map etc if any will correct or improve this without making a lot of other mods. Btw I live in Houston and don't know of a speed shop yet like you took yours to. As it stands stock I did not care for the throttle response and ruled it out. Hope it can be fixed. Would like to reconsider the bike.

The 15' model has updated fuel settings from the 14'. The 15' is smoother and the 16 and 17' should be ever better. My bike has been tuned on the dyno so it corrected any jerk in the throttle. I would do a Google search for ECU tuners. Try Stoltec Moto, F1Tuning, and Superbikes Unlimited. Thanks for watching.

I'm also running a Bazzaz Z-Fi piggyback fuel controller, with Graves air block off plates, with a full Yoshimura R-77 exhaust.

Or ECU reflashing which does so much more than a piggyback module can ever do. 2Wheeldynoworks or Vcyclenut. Probably others.

nice video bro I don't know how it feels n.c. but here in mytrle beach it s amazing weather when it's not raining perfect temperature for bike maybe it just me but bike runs I lot better in fall then summer to me

Thanks man, appreciate that. I agree, Fall is my favorite time of the year. The air starts to get crisp and cool, no pollen to deal with and your not constantly dripping wet with sweat. Perfect weather for riding motorcycles...let's enjoy it while it lasts.
