United had Evans and Casemiro at centre back last season at Palace. United made 8 changes from the Southampton game vs Barnsley while Palace fielded the 1st team vs QPR. These clowns conveniently miss these facts out to make it sound worse on United. Last season was a freak season at United with injuries, do Arsenal finish 2nd if they lose Saliba, Gabriel and Ben White for 25 games? No way. United finally have a solid back 4 who are all good on the ball, this is what all the best teams have, a solid and consistent back 4.

What they meant was that Southampton had a few more chances and a penalty in the opening 20 minutes. In their minds that is enough to disregard the 70 minutes of dominance United then had.

To the guy on the left, the only bad performance Utd had this season was against Liverpool. Also, Southampton played well for 25 minutes. Utd played well for 70, and Southampton did not have a shot on target during that period. I would have thought 3-0 with those stats ,the win was fairly unequivocal albeit against a poor side.

In the first half of Southampton v United the possession was even, both teams had decent scoring chances (Zirkzee on the 6y line, Dibling was cleared from the line by De Ligt), United had four corners to the hosts zero, 11 shots to 6, and 6 on target to 3. Southampton had two separate 7-8 minutes periods of sustained pressure where United were shaky and giving up possession easily.
