in a time where everyone seem to try and take with them the entire comfort of their home, including the washing machines, dryer, TV, power supply (which can power a small town) and the kitchen sink of course, its refreshing to see some "back to basics", the way it used to be, where it’s about enjoying the outdoors experience, pure and without lighting it like Kings Cross...if you want that level of comport, just stay home…

Thanks mate, this video is a cure for all the overbuilt stuff on KZbin. You've kept the vehicle true to it's intended purpose, without building a whole lot of furniture into it or cutting the roof off. So many people build their vehicles for only 5% of the driving they actually do, for the rest, they are lugging a heavy, cluttered tank around town.

@@matthalpin1981 no roof conversion. Got a rack with an iKamper Skycamp 2.0 on it. My wife, my two kids and I have plenty of room to sleep. Really enjoyed this. Good content for what the "average joe" can achieve without kitting out the vehicle with expensive extras. Not everyone has the luxury of getting out there without having to take the kids along so it was great to see that too. If anyone is watching just getting into off-roading, I would recommend some of Ronny's back catalogue where he has info you can actually trust and with a strong emphasis on the safe way to do things.

I bought the front runner table for my 76, to be honest, I don't use it all that often. If you do get one, get some stainless steel and cut it to the size of the original door card and then rivnut the table to the stainleas steel, much more secure that way.

For years I had always intended to buy a Troopy. When the time came I settled for a new diesel Hilux. At the time, 2006, second hand Troopies, with quite a few Ks, were selling for as much as a new diesel Hilux. Not having much mechanical knowledge, I got cold feet about the second hand aspect. I also thought the Troopy would be a cumbersome daily driver. The Hilux has proved to be fine and it gets me all over with no mods except for 225/75/16 AT tyres. If it ever dies though, it might back to the Troopy + a very small car for the supermarket run.

@@Ronny_Dahl 78 is awesome- power and fuel efficiency wise. 75 I've had since 1999 and spent last 2 years restoring him. Has good ol 1HZ engine which I refurbished and stuck a turbo into it, really looking forward to seeing how it performs but never did have a problem pre turbo- sat comfortably at 110 cruising but did struggle up hill or towing. Fuel efficiency wasn't great geting about 450-480 a tank. 78 is incredible just about making Busso to Carnavon on 2 full tanks just about possible although we refuel in Geraldton. Check out my 75 which I just posted on TOA Facebook- he's now painted green!

Hey, question on the facelift troopies. I see people do really expensive upgrades to get the rear axle as wide as the new front axle by changing the whole thing. But cant you just get wheels with a lower offset on the rear instead? Or cant that be done on these for some reason, or does it hurt the wheel bearings too much? And do you even notice anything about the wheel track being smaller in the back?
