Hey Ray, thanks for the kind words! You know, it's been 15 years since I first released the earliest skeletal version of BFRPG... we've come a long way, but we haven't really gone anywhere, if you get my drift. Again, thanks!

Absolutely! Thnx for the reply! Ha-ha... yes, I get ya. I'd have loved to have discovered BFRPG years ago. Between the print materials, website, and community, it's simply 👍

This is good stuff! I wished I would have crossed paths with it years ago. I'm sort of a "hermit" when it comes to the gaming community so I always seem to arrive a bit late to the party. Great job on this!!!!!

"The character itself is the be all and end all of everything" = Character centric vs "Game play centric focus" THAT is RIGHT ON the definition of new school vs. Old School philosophy of role playing.

Glad to see you are enjoying one of my favorite games and I look forward to more vids from you on Basic Fantasy. To me BFRPG is a solid contender for #1 FRP Game! The entry price makes it available to most everyone. The support material and online community I find is a definite plus. Thanks!

Thnx, Fred! Yes, it's definitely THE solid #1 contender for me too! Glad you liked it and I'll be doing some more, it seems, real soon. 👍

You can also now get a good quality hardcover on Amazon. One of the best options to get into the OSR, or TTRPGs in general. A fun, fast moving game, with enough material to keep you going for years.

I always recommend the optional rules sheets to OSR players everywhere. They are great for hackers.

The optional rules for this are great, and not system breaking....which makes them special and unique. 🙂

It's such a really cool RPG!! We've played it, and I incorporated a lot of it into my 2nd edition d&d too, just simply to make it even easier as well. Hands down, my favorite!! Thnx 👊

I concur! I love having the print copy in my hands. Unfortunately, only a very limited supply of Old School stuff is available in reprint (either POD, or otherwise)...I miss my old BECMI boxes. 😕🙂 Ebay is crazy high.

@@retrodmray That's why I go for the "highly loved" books.....much cheaper that way and for some reason the fact that someone enjoyed it for many years means a lot to me.

@@retrodmray Yea and I actually prefer the attack matrix over THACO if you can believe it...lol. On my own sheets I have two rows for the melee & missile weapon being used. I pre-calculate everything with all the modifiers & bonuses included. No math. Look at the AC to hit and the number you need to roll already has everything factored in. Peace of cake.
@retrodmray
@retrodmray 3 жыл бұрын
I remember those days in 1st edition advanced, and for me, even then, it was a bit cumbersome to have all that ahead of time and matrix'd out like that. I much preferred true THACO on the fly for myself. But, many players had a hard time with it for some reason, so they just put together their table and adjusted as they leveled up. 😆 Great of you to do that work though. Thnx for the comments!!

@@retrodmray Man I play a lot of OSE solo running old TSR modules. I'm usually running a 4 or 5 man party. My son sometimes joins too. But I find it incredibly easy and I like the look and use of smaller numbers. But even THACO isn't much different than ATTACK BONUSES. If I was using THACO I would again would pre-calculate my number with all bonuses for attributes and weapons factored in. So: THACO: Subtract target AC from THACO to find hit number ATTACK BONUS: Roll the d20 and then add bonus to roll and see if you hit target AC
