Subbed this week. The minis alone are just too tempting.

I subbed to the premium as my son is getting into warhammer 40K so this is essentially for him to try out combat patrol

@@WayneWelly nice one. Can't say I blame you. I was tempted by the Premium but I'd only want the Rogal Dorn and the Votann minis.

The problem with these magazines in 2024 is that newsagents basically no longer exist so it is extremely difficult to purchase them

@@fybso3057 yeah the length of time between UK release and the release in Europe is nuts. But at least if there is any faction you fancy you get a heads up on which issues you might want to double up on.

I don’t think I’m gonna get too into this magazine series, but I’ve just started painting 40k minis and I’ve gone for space marines and my chosen chapter is the Salamanders Issue 3 has 5 flamethrower marines, and Salamanders loooovvveee fire so….I’m gonna go get me some flame marines

That full shot on the back cover is the old collection. It's missing the changed models for certain factions. I've subscribed, so I won't be getting my first issues for a while, not until issue 2 is out. I'm just trying to decide how to paint each faction. I like that the cards are included in the collection. Saves having to keep pulling out the data sheet pages for each unit. Really interested to see what they're like.
@PaletteoftheDead5 ай бұрын
@@madmerlinsart I have a feeling they were printed before the change, probably some issues are the left overs from the trial issues which I would explain the image mistake. Adding the cards to the magazine is a good touch. It saves using the app or as you say having to dig out datasheets all the time.

Now the magazines are £10 each I’m not sure if there’s going to be much of a saving if any over just getting the actual combat patrol box set from a third party retailer, with 20% off that’s £80, and some of the sets will most likely be over 2 or 3 issues, but like you said you are getting the rules and lore as well
@PaletteoftheDead5 ай бұрын
@@garyevans1984 the saving isn't too bad really overall. With CP boxes being £100 now and an extra unit per faction valued at around £30-£40 plus paints you save somewhere in the region of £500/£600 compared to a third party retailers it drops to £300/£400. For anybody new to 40k though the magazine can be invaluable as it provides a nice steady introduction to the hobby and game. Without being too overwhelming. But it depends if you want a selection of minis from 9 different factions.

Great video - have been following for the last couple of Hachette releases - you are so correct as the dnd one is now changing to dnd 2024 or whatever - how can combat patrol change for us as builders ? Is it a small change here and there like kill team ? All the lore has been wasted and am feeling cheated 👍🏻
@PaletteoftheDead5 ай бұрын
@@jpsheekey3852 I think Combat Patrol for people more like me who is more interested in painting than playing it can provide new challenges and a chance to sample minis I wouldn't normally buy. But there isn't much of a challenge. In terms of lore, if you are new to 40k the lore that the mag provides is a good insight into story, and the idea behind certain factions and minis. CP is meant as a quick fire skirmish game as some people find large armies a bit daunting, but it leaves the opportunity to build an army of choice using CP as the foundation.
