WOW. This makes you an insta-add to my favourite musicians list. (Of which there is an actual terrifyingly long list: jameswcoleman.tumblr.com/myfavorites Putting you right next to Brett Raymond.) I found you a while back through searching up Brett Raymond, and I'm absolutely gobsmacked with this jazz-pop perfection on display here. I'm gonna say it: There's an absolute oversaturation of middle-of-the-road work for music & music videos out there right now, but this has SO much craft & care put into it. The colour grading (at least I'm assuming you had to do work there), the very subtle dirty film grain applied (or even the 8mm frame in certain shots), delicious shot composition (I'm particularly fond of the snapping fingers/thumbs up in the air-- don't know how you got that shot without it being overexposed)... also, holy cow, Grant & Neal did a bang-up job with that dolly zoom at 0:29! This is just absolute joy-- it's impressive that you could write such an uncynical song without it seeming manufactured or disingenuous. (But I don't think a person who waves so cheerfully to a passing car like that would be able to be "fake", hahaha.) 0:55 & 1:35's tight chromatic harmony hit was NUTRITIOUS. Can't get over the progression switch-up with that wonderful Gbmaj7/9 to Ebm7 (I don't understand chords very well, haha, I'm trying my best to figure out what they are so I can talk about them.) -- what a GREAT recolouring, or the Amaj7-Abm7-Gbmaj7 to end that chorus. And that 70s-style SUSTAIN (Gb6sus4... ?) at 1:53, YEHHHboi. And last but not least, that stinkin' augmented chord-- what is it, a Daug with a sharp 11th?!! (I take a small amount of joy in the fact I finally recognized something as an augmented chord before playing it on the piano this time. [... also, is that a baby playing the synth? Is it... your baby? Talented baby.]) Love the sharp piano in the right channel in the final refrain-- excellent mixing choice. Absolute bliss with earphones on to cap off the song. (Also, I thought for SURE your camera crew was IN the Bunch Bike the whole time-- I guess they were actually just VERY closely following you in, what... an open trunk? Unsure.) Thank you SO much for listing all your equipment in the description, I super-needed that. This is one of the first videos I've seen made by a non-professional crew that I've felt really looks cinematic. Like, if this played in a movie theatre, it would look up to snuff, you know? How much would you say was filmed with the Canon c200 (which looks to be MAD EXPENSIVE) and how much was filmed with the Canon EOS R (which looks to be more affordable)? What kind of grain overlay did you use? And finally, I know most cameras are nothing without good lenses. What kinds of lenses did you use? Sorry for all the questions, hahaha, you've just given me a lot of hope that I might be able to achieve the right "look" on a budget. Much much appreciated, all the very best! And you're definitely creating, inspiring, entertaining AND glorifying God. 'Cause we both know He's creative. ;)

Love your playlist. The Gray Havens are just amazing...I go for weeks listening to nothing but them. Switchfoot is one band my kids never fought on roadtrips. Billie and her bro are shockingly talented.

I like the classic Rhodes keyboard sound. What do you use?
@GuyRicheyGibbons4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching, Connor! Much appreciated! I'm using Keyscape a bit on this track, the main keyboard is a Wurli 200a emulation and then a wing tac piano sound on the piano and the guitar solo sound is actually an amplified Clavinet preset from Keyscape as well. If you haven't, check out Spectrasonics! They are incredibly good at what they do. All the best! Thx
