I had a relative who worked on set for the filming of the second film. He told me the director was a fanatic and would re shoot scenes 15 to 20 times if things like props in the background did not show up at the correct place on screen... actors would be constantly complaining that he was a tyrant and was constantly adjusting things by an inch or two an. He was so obsessed with details like this that he took the unusual step of having a group of third party consultants come in and make copious amounts of edits to the film after it was already finalized and ready to print.
