Back to the Future: The Game is a graphic adventure played from a third-person perspective and was one of Telltale Games first biggest hits. We wanted to do both Back to the Future and Jurassic Park, and they both turned out to be wonderful. This game The game is set seven months after the film trilogy, May 14, 1986. Marty McFly has not seen his friend Dr. Emmett "Doc" Brown since he left with his family, and as such, the bank has started to sell away his laboratory and possessions. After rescuing Doc's notebook describing time travel technology from Biff Tannen, Marty is surprised by the appearance of a DeLorean time machine outside the laboratory. A recording left by Doc in the car explains that the machine would return to Marty's present should the Doc be in trouble. It's a great story and is typical of all Telltale Games. It keeps you on the edge of your seat and makes you want more. It's episodic, and takes place over the course of 5 episodes. We hope you enjoy, and if you did, make sure you like, comment and share!

Can we all take a moment and appreciate how brilliant this story actually is. Now we all know how Marty likes to come up with clever names to disguise his identity and how his grandmother was doing that long before him. I think it's a such a smart way to show where he got that trait from. Also did you notice how many times Einstein helped Marty to find someone, what a good boy. I really like how well written this game is. It is a great way to continue the story, I think they did an amazing job here, I really enjoyed it.

I remember playing this game. I expected a game version of the original storym when I started. However when Einstein didnt return 1 minute after and Doc disappeared I actually got shocked. I didnt expect for back to the future 4,5 and 6 in this game. I love telltales version of the continuation and hope they remastered this soon.

I agree. If you audio book BTTF 1-3 (listen to the audio of it without watching it) and then listen to the audio of this game it's as if this is Part 4 - 6 or something. For a game it took a serious approach to the storyline and a continuation of it. Unlike the 1991 cartoon which was just a goofy kids cartoon that made little sense of anything.

+Kevin Spratt In episode 1 of the game, while Doc is stuck in jail, there's an optional dialogue, Marty can ask doc about the Delorean (what he know about Edna, and a few other things). Basically when the lightning struck the Delorean in BTTF2, it produced a gigawatt overlead which sent a temporal duplicate 70 years into the future (Instead of 70 years in the past like in BTTF2). Doc met the duplicate Delorean during a travel to 2025 with his train and family and retrived it before Griff Tannen got his hands on it. For all intents and purposes this is the exact same Delorean as in BTTF2, except the various additions Doc added over time and the fact it doesn't fly (since it was struck by lightning).

After the incidents of Back to Future 1-3, it's hard for Marty to think about the present. Especially having a nightmare of when it all started. The ending of the game shows that he and doc have a lot of catching up to do, as I see the “To be continued” as a way for them to catch up based on other narratives, cartoon show, or comics later on. Btw, Edna is canonically 8 years older than Emmet, meaning that when they started dating in 1931, she was 25 and he was 17. Now, although Hill Valley is fictional, it does take place in the very much real state of California, where the age of consent is 18! 😬 Suffice to say, pretty problematic and it really explains how controlling and domineering she is towards Doc.

Wait, since Doc was corrupt by Edna back in 1931, shouldn't the DeLorean fade away like Marty in the first Back to the Future? I mean he probably didn't build the DeLorean with Edna being there right?

After doing some research to answer that question, it can also be tied to BTTF2 where Doc/Marty/Jennifer/Einstein make their way to the Alternate 1985. in that timeline Marty and Doc probably never met, and also Doc was lobotomized after heading efforts to eliminate biff with the help of an underground movement, meaning he wouldn't have created the delorean. the main theory out there that holds is that because of the temporal flux around the car generated by the flux capacitor, the gang were literally under the effect of a time bubble since they are in an alternate pocket universe. for as long as that temporal bubble doesnt burst (thinking an event that would've led to the idea of Doc creating time travel would have to occur for a time bubble to hold onto), they retain all their memories of their original timeline and those versions of themselves wouldn't get erased. In the case of Doc in the game, despite his path in life being severly altered, he still comes up with the idea for the flux capacitor. the know-how of the idea was there, he just didn't pursue it like he originally did prior to this altered history. my guess is that despite us losing the Doc we know, his idea bridged a link that gave marty and the delorean their own temporal wake so that they could exist as long as some event didnt cause them to be not born or created. Marty is still the son of George and Loreinne McFly, and that delorean was still manufactured by DMC, so their existence wasn't negated. long winded and probably very confusing, but I tried. :'D

I’m glad they brought in James Arnold Taylor to voice the younger Emmett as he does great sounding like a younger version of Christopher Lloyd especially since we Star Wars fans recognize him as the voice of Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Clone Wars as the voice double for Evan McGregor.

I played this years ago, and to this day, I can't forget the Orwellian nature of Hill Valley in Episode 3: Citizen Brown (which starts at 2:19:46). That episode was by far the best. The creepiest part about that social structure is the way it appeals to people's inner desire for order. That's how it legitimizes its authoritarian power over its members. Creepy and disturbing episode. Sidenote: Notice how Jennifer can't hear the DeLorean crashing into the billboard 2:19:58, yet she hears the horn just fine 2:21:30. Lol 2023 EDIT: I just replayed it and noticed that Edna Strickland, after whose ideals the orwellian version of Hill Valley is brought about, has George Orwell's infamous novel "1984" (published in 1949) in her apartment. This means that she reads 1984 identifying with the dystopian government, and she made it a reality in episode 3 of the game. You can see it by interacting with the candy. Can also be seen on the top left corner at 15:00.

I dunno... I didn't see any language twistings in there, the indoctrination programs, propaganda, nonsensical and harshly enforced rules are the norm for dictators and oppressive societies, I think it's more akin to Huxley's Brave New World with its scientific-sounding atmosphere.

But the George from the "Citizen Plus" timeline said that it will have tooked 6 months to remake the tapes and the Doc from that timeline said that it took him the same amount of time to repair the De Lorean so if Marty instead of searching the tapes will have helped George remake the tapes it will have took a year to recreate the original 1986

I like the story, but i just realised something, When marty and doc go back to 1985 at 2:20:06 . Doc should of been in the car with Marty and he should of been the same as we was before. In the second movie when they go back to the alternate 1985 where biff has taken over, Doc said that in that Timeline he was committed to a mental asylum but he was his normal self when they travelled to that time. I guess the writers just forgot about how the rules of time travel work in the movies

Or 2nd theory: When Marty traveled to alternate universe with Doc, the malfunction happened and doc was sent to normal 1986 while Marty was left in the cursed one- Idk if it doesn't make sense

This is Peabody and Sherman all over again. Ok, when Marty and Doc traveled to the Biffafied 1985, the reason why they were still their normal selves was because Marty obviously never changes and Doc was still a scientist even if he was committed. However, in this game’s citizen future, Doc never became a scientist because Edna changed him at a young age. Because of that, Doc’s scientist life never existed, so Doc disappeared and Citizen Brown took his place.
