I think your water lines had some air in them from sitting so long. Now that you are using it again, it will probable go away. Welcome home. $115 a day sounds to me like you did good on the budget.

We have camped for a number of years. After sitting in the hot enclosed container for over 2 months, your water is teaming with bacteria. I would highly recommend dumping it. Loved your trip, very interesting.

Is it nearly time to head south for winter? A few of the You Tubers we watch went to Baja last year and seemed to enjoy it (Kara and Nate, Travel Beans, Levi and Leah). Might be worth considering.

How funny I just stayed in a BLM campsite 9 miles from Bryce Canyon National Park for one night after visiting the park during the day. I left Montana on 10/16 where I live and did a 5 day car camping trip returning 10/20/23. Yes you heard that right 😆...a 2003 Mazda 6 with 223, 335 miles on it when I left. I drove through Yellowstone East Entrance through the South Entrance to see Jenny Lake at Teton National Park, then made my way to Utah seeing 3 National Parks Bryce, Capital Reef, and Arches. Also took the All American road byway 12 through Escalante between Bryce and Capital Reef which was about as epic as the parks. I slept in my back seat (I'm short) and had everything I needed in my trunk such as food, water, clothes, and even a Porta potty 😊. I ended up driving 1868 total miles there and back home. It was amazing. Last year in October I did the same thing in the same car except longer for 13 days and went to Idaho, Oregon, and Washington and stayed on free lands, BLM, NF, National Park, and Rest stop. I loved it ❤. Glad you had a wonderful time on your backpacking trip and got back home safely. Enjoy Utah. It was my first visit there and I certainly did.

Couple of things. This time of year is THE best for Zion, Arches and all 5 of Utah's National Parks; 70 degrees and way fewer people! Also, I am still in SLC, just SW of Liberty Park if you guys need water, power or anything else. Thank You a ton for sharing your journey! So fun, entertaining, well filmed and edited! Hope you two are having a blast, that's the most important :)

Thanks for telling me what she said, I couldn't hear it and even if I did I still wouldn't get it. Never-never take a rig you love to one of those oil change places. They are idiots. I kept an eye on them the one time I took my work car to. They started it up and the oil was blasting out of the bottom. I ran over 2 of the idiots to shut my engine off b/4 it was destroyed. They had cross threaded the oil filter...Never again!

Back in 2010 - 2013 when we were living in the rv, we kind of enjoyed the times we had no plans. We'd stay a week or even two at a location and visit a nearby town, hike, sit outside and read... We did make some plans but there was so much to see even in New Mexico, that we spent 6 months just staying at state parks and BLM lands before heading back to the Adirondacks in NY for the summer. Life is yours to choose from, enjoy 😊.

Next time, drain the water, leave no water stagnant and remove power from the water heater. Come back with fresh water, refill the tanks, allow the hot water heater to fill, then turn the hot water heater on. Stagnant water for an extended period of time in tubing can algaefy and cause clogs.

As far as shower go, West Marine makes a 5 gallon solar heated shower for use outside. Fill it in the morning, the sun heats it while it's tied on your roof. Hint, it cools off after 2-3 hours so schedule your shower before it cools. Five gal. Should be enough for two, if not by two they are not terribly expensive. After some practice I could take a good (enough) shower with about 2 gallons. Let me know how it goes, I read your posts e everytime.

what to do: Try some new outdoorsy/dirtbaggy sports; whatever appeals to you. Paragliding, rock climbing, canyoneering, mountain biking, kayaking, rafting, surfing, skiing, longer overnight hikes, sailing, etc.... Most of that is pretty synergistic with both youtube and living in a van. Didn't you already threaten once to try paragliding in Interlaken? There are plenty of places where you can do the same in the US. Including in Utah, assuming you are still there.
