In this Average Joes Adventure Lyle and his dad (Dave) spend 3 days deep in Algonquin's back country searching for BIG RED fall speckles! With little success in the spring it was Lyle's mission to get his dad on some nice trout! As luck would have it as the clock winded down they managed to get into a bunch of trout, literally seconds from starting their trek home.

Crazy speck action. Great Jody guys,and with your dad, even better! You said you bushwhacked in though, no campsites on that lake then? All lakes with campsites in the park have portage trails to them.

There are several areas where the park only maintains the portages and sites every like 10 years. We try and get away from the crowds and those areas are basically bushwhacks when they’re grown in. Hidden gems!

Thanks! When it’s a quick pic or show for the camera, the trout don’t need any time to recover, to add the water was cold also, quick shot of oxygen when you release like that and all the trout released well!
