I took some time to head out for some time in the desert to put my new Firebox Stove 5" stainless steel stove to use. I cook up some pork and chopped potatoes in a lot of butter! It was a great time out in the forest!

I don't know how this video alluded me. Just watching it for the first time. Grilling with twigs and sticks can be challenging because you really need a bed of hot coals especially juniper or sage that burns so hot and fast not leaving behind many hot coals. If I'm planning to grill and I know the wood where I'm going won't be very good I'll bring charcoal. To make twigs and sticks work you would need to build your fire way above the top of the Firebox then wait for the flames to die out to mount the grill plate. At that point if there isn't quite enough heat you can add tiny q-tip sized twigs to make a little baby flame bringing the temp up without soot. You picked a pretty challenging meal for your first time. That's your adventurous nature 👍👌😎 cheers!

I'd have to say i'm quite impressed with how you put the grill plate on for the first time cooking. I had so many issues trying to inset my grill plate the first time that my sausages ended up rolling off of it into some sand! If you ever burn your steak again, cut off a thin surface layer of it and grill it again. Cheers!

Oh boy. This your first time? Not a chance I'm subscribing, but that was an entertaining and stressful 5 min clip. Woof. 1) Enjoy the newly burned in venting in your rainfly because you kept stirring those coals in the stove you set up right next to your tent. 2) Adds and immediately burns butter. 3) Scraping expensive non stick pot with METAL spatula. 4) Adds and immediately destroys pork chop.

Hahahah ... everything is burnt .... hats off for allowing your video out into the wild. .. I couldn't do it. And I'm not sure your doing Steve over at Firebox any favors. Hahhaa ... this was awesome. I've literally never seen anyone cook a pork chop that thick. Also, when you go camping, you want your meals to be fun. Lean meat like that is ... not fun. I think 1" bone-in pork steaks with all that marbling would have been a much tastier meal and it would have cooked a hell of a lot easier. To each his own. Thanks for sharing.

Nice demo. I would recommend reverse searing a steak that thickness next time. The ash pan can be configured as a damper to control heat output; that combined with less fuel may improve your result.
