I have watched a few of your videos in the last several months, but I’m stepping up the amount now. I own two 9mm hand guns, which I am quite satisfied with, and a Savage Axis 2 in 350 legend that I think is kinda junky. The ammo gets stuck fairly often when I cycle in a new round. It will be replaced eventually, but for now I have decided to get a shotgun for the first time. I have been combing through novice shotgun videos and have settled on you because you don’t talk too fast and you explain things in terms I can understand. Many other tubers talk way too fast and don’t seem to realize that videos for beginners ARE videos for BEGINNERS. they talk as if we already understand what all these gun parts and terms mean. I just realized this is a very long way of saying it, but thank you for taking the time to talk slowly and clearly explain what all this stuff means. I truly appreciate it.

New to guns in general. Bought a benelli nova 28" 12 gauge a couple weeks ago to start hunting. This has me psyched.

Just picked me up a Benelli M2 for my first shotgun. Laws are becoming far more strict here in my state, so I figured it was time to break away from just my handguns. I missed out on getting an AR and the like. Certainly can’t get anything like that anymore here in WA.

Lol I swear everyone hates on 20 gauge so much it's like dude. You have a lighter faster moving round than a 12 gauge when it comes to slugs. And it being lighter and faster moving leads to more longer ranged accuracy

The diagram that explains the difference between SHOT sizes is wrong, it's SHOT not gauge. GAUGE refers to how big the bore is by the number of leads bbs to equal to the diameter.

Great video. It's chill and accessible. Great for new shooters. Your graphic at 8:23 will likely cause some confusion though. The graphic is describing different shot sizes, but is labeled "gauge".
@backfire4 жыл бұрын
Dang it! I think you're the first person to comment and notice that. It totally escaped me when I was creating the graphic. Good catch.
@denmanfite31564 жыл бұрын
@@backfire Yeah he has a good point. I think you can put an "Annotation" on the graphic to say Shot Size # instead of gauge.

Excellent info and video quality. Do you have a video on how to select a barrel/choke yet or any resources you could point me to? I get the idea that a narrower choke adds distance but I'm at a loss as far as if certain chokes or ported barrels are incompatible with certain types of ammo.

i'm starting to get into shot guns, but I have a question. what if you cock a shotgun, but decide you don't want to shoot it? how can you undo it and save the shell? or once you cock it, does it need to be fired? sorry if a dumb question, but I'm new with these guns.
@thisisonlygoodname Жыл бұрын
Some pump shotguns will have a button or lever located near the loading gate which allows you to pull the pump back with the hammer cocked.

Can you put rifled slugs through a full choke?
@GStudios7773 жыл бұрын
Tommy,, not good for the choke,, you'll actually open the choke up more over time,, then it loses it's tight pattern

Someone told me that I should shoot heavier shells like 4 shot down to 00 buck first with a new shotgun before shooting smaller shells like birdshot. Is that true, or does it not matter?
@SpaceCowboy573 ай бұрын
It used to be more common to have to break in semi auto shotguns, and you'd do so with heavier loads. This doesn't matter at all for break action or pump/manual shotguns. Most manufacturers don't recommend a break in period and design their new production semi auto guns to be ready out of the box. That said, it's still not a bad idea to test out heavier loads just to see how well you handle them as a shooter.

Just came across this three video series and love it!! Question for the @backfire team. I'm going to be doing my first regulated deer drive at a state park near my home. Only shotguns with "00" buckshot ammo can be used. Any recommendations on a reasonably priced shotgun? Either something new or a reliable used model that you would recommend I get to save a few bucks?

Hearing him say that you’ll never face a home invader is cringe
@backfire3 жыл бұрын
Hang on. I said a home invasion is a situation "you'll probably never face." This isn't an opinion. It's a provable fact. You can read the statistics from the FBI and see that this is factually true in the United States. Most people won't experience a home invasion, and those who do only see and confront the invader in a TINY fraction of cases. I am not saying we shouldn't be prepared for a home invasion. I certainly am in my home. But it IS a situation you'll probably never face.
