I have had mine for about 15 months, it's as good, as the day it was unboxed. Backflush daily with water and monthly with detergent, descale and lub handle once to date!

personally I do it once every 2-3 weeks, which matches the use up of my usually 250g bag of espresso beans (only drinking one double shot per day)

Backflush with just water (no detergent) at least once or twice per week. Backflush with detergent every 6-8 weeks. Since this is an E61 machine you do not want to use detergent too frequently or you'll find yourself having to regularly relubricate all the moving parts.
