EBAY RUINED MY HOUSE! The Journey to Becoming a Book Seller | eBay Reseller

This is how eBay RUINED my house! This is my journey to becoming a full time book seller and how my eBay business took over and ruined my house. I bought huge hauls and thousands of books to sell on eBay and this is how I had to store them in my house while working from home.
P.S My living areas are now free from books and the books are only inside the storage units or inside my garage. And don't worry, I took a couple of weeks off over Christmas to recharge so I don't go back to burnout :)

I’ve had to change how I carry the books as when I was using tubs to bring hauls in they were so heavy and I was getting a lot of pain down the sides of my body. So now I fill the reusable shopping bags. They stack well in my car but they are not too heavy to carry.

Oh thank you! I know the book market is very different in UK as you compete with World of Books, I think you would have to target more bundles and sets. Your books do see to sell for very cheap on eBay with my research. You guys have Amazon though but in Australia we are not allowed to sell second hand books on Amazon which is a shame. But maybe thats why our eBay book market is strong. Thank you so much for watching.

Great work Mel. Great to see you have obtained your massive inventory and shift your focus to books only. Been following your tips and advise. We have a small store on eBay. Can't really see how to make the margins if we sell books and provide free shipping in eBay Aus tbh. We therefore try to source only books that can sell for higher price and cost the shipping into the buy it now price. Do you have any tips on how to reduce our shipping cost in Aus?
@backfromburnout
@backfromburnout 3 жыл бұрын
Shipping is expensive sadly. On some books, so margins are small. The books I make small margins on are the books I pick up for very cheap (or free) in large hauls. They are still worth listing as they bring activity to my store and my store is based on volume. This is how I ship books, it's the easiest and fastest way that works for my business. kzbin.info/www/bejne/b3XIhp5vfNCDnpI

I do primarily books and dvds but yes now I have everything (literally it's like Christmas/a huge adventure as you never know what you are going to find.....) and have to sort through it all to put it into categories. And yes I know what you mean also about the hauls on facebook and gumtree, although haven't had a chance to source any of them recently as too busy trying to sort everything. Lol - that's an awesome video. It reflects our life in the secondhand bookshop. We usually sort out the jewels from the trash and give the stuff we have too many copies of and aren't selling anymore back to the customer. The store credits we give then allow 50% off the books in our shop. You could trade the books you don't want in for the books you need to complete sets at second book stores. We're down from the height of $15k during the pandemic to $10k but that's still twice our normal ebay income. We're doing a library book sale tomorrow. All the books are $1. Good for getting the rarer local history books and other hard to find books. We have 3 yellow recycle bins to put our unwanted books into. They are never empty when they go out.
