Absolutely love your videos. I grew up in the south (North Carolina) where good coaching was hard to find. A lot of your analysis covers skills I’ve never been taught and in some cases never thought about. I love how you break the situations down to their elements. Nice job, keep them coming!

Hi Daniel, I'm curious what concepts you have applied that have found it to be successful? Always looking skill acquisition stories, hope you can share one

@@eliteicehockeyanalysisnorc1824 They're all so helpful to breaking down the game on a simpler level, but the ones that I have found most effective are the Entries series you did. It has allowed me to really explore my options for changing angles, making passes and creating plays rather than crashing the net every time. I feel I have a greater hockey sense from applying all the strategies from your vids. Thanks for all your work putting them out man!

I'm a high school coach and you're channel is my favorite hockey channel. I seriously check it all the time to see if you've posted anything. Outstanding breakdowns and so helpful. I think it's outstanding and have sent your videos to my team to watch as well. Thanks SO much for putting this stuff up!

At lower levels (Atom, Peewee House) I start the season with a blanket "no backhand pass anywhere on the ice" rule. The reason is that these kids typically use the backhand pass as a panic pass under pressure (rather than as a considered option). I'd rather have them take an extra second or two and get it onto their forehand for a pass... even if this means they occasionally lose it to their check. Once they get comfortable with puck protection, I relax this rule. Oh, I should add that at the beginning of this season, I ran our Peewee house team through Hockey Canada's skills testing. I was pretty shocked to find that no one on our team could make an accurate forehand pass to a stationary target. Average score was 1 out of 5 attempts. That's been our priority for the last month - basic passing. Looking forward tomorrow to apply your "brother in a headlock" analogy ;-)

I dont think oshie looks at the glass in real time. when he talked about looking at glass i think he meant he did the reps/work of "finding his pose" like a bodybuilder flexing differently in the mirror during practice sessions. Watching himself shoot at the wall. He found where he looked threatening during the shot basically shadow boxing. When at practice he would "see" what a goalie would be seeing when he shot right before he lets the puck off his stick. Took that knowledge watching his shot to perfect selling a fake shot

Yes in the Oshi scenario it’s only for mirroring, but I’ve heard dozens of coaches mention it can be used in game play. And I would bet that a few people probably could actually use it at one point or another, but I sure couldn’t. Never say never, never say always…but on this one I’m saying “almost never” in game play if that makes sense. Thanks for the comment, I appreciate that you’re deep into the details also!!
