Before you rent a backhoe, you might want to consider investing in a used one. If that's the direction you decide to go in,, there are a number of things you need to check before handing over any money to the seller.
Backhoe rental is a great way to go because you don't have to worry about maintenance, long term storage, and can use the backhoe based on need.
However, owning your own backhoe is great because you don't have to worry about whether or not the rental company has a backhoe when you need one, or the backhoe you want to rent.
When it comes to buying a backhoe, many decide to invest in a used one for some obvious reasons; the first being cost.
If you do your homework, and get a reliable used backhoe, you can save thousands of dollars. Finding that reliable used backhoe requires a number of important steps when you are shopping for the equipment.
There are many components on a backhoe from the tires to the cab and everything in between. You need to inspect the backhoe cylinders, bucket, hydraulic components, axles, and many other parts.
If you don't take your time and look at the used backhoe carefully, up and down, you could end up with an expensive headache.

Don’t forget to check the cylinders for rust. That will tear up your seals. Also look into maintenance history of the machine. Find out if it’s been greased regularly, if fluids have been changed. Make sure all the electronics work(lights, directionals, maybe the radio)

one must load test and dig get oil hot. Trans and hydro issues show up after half an hour of heavy digging . Always insist to be able to cycle heavy digging or its a gamble.

You can't check the front axle without taking the weight off it with the front arms, and getting someone turn the steering back and forth while you watch for wear. That centre pin needs careful checking too. Watch it as someone takes the weight off it, then try shaking the axle back and forth. With the Extra-Dig back arm, check the wear pads. JCB don't recommend grease, but specify Waxoyl rust-proofing fluid instead.

When i bought my bsckhoe i asked if i could load a few trucks (bought it from a local metrail yard) thats how i tested the hydrolics they even a pit (solid unbroke ground) thet let me test the hoe out with that woukd be my advice when you go yo by any machine ask if they have any short work you can do to test drive thr machine so you can get a kinda feel how that machine runs in a day to day opperation

if I were to buy that machinine I would bring an experienced operator who knows the machine . the most important point you never showed was how many hours were on that machine . or showed the meter. that tells me how much life is left and how much I might spend .

@@treeclimbing7798 Sometimes they stop working or are replaced with a new one. Start the machine and see if the meter is working, there should be some activity there.

nice video & good pointers. it's hard finding places that sell H.E. parts, outside the dealership. idk if y'all service them too? if so, i have an '88 JCB 3CXT Sitemaster that needs repair. trans fluid is pumping out the fill tube like crazy & it'll push fluid out till the pan is dry. my service manual doesn't mention that in the troubleshoot. mechanics @ the JCB dealership don't know what's causing it. i'm hoping it's a clog in the cooling system, forcing the pressure relief valve to stay open? also found a handful of metal shavings in the pickup strainer. any suggestions? also, the P.S. brake pedal will go to the floor on the 1st push & level up to the D.S brake pedal on the 2nd push. no external leaks, new master cylinder, no air in lines, no leaks in the reservoir & it squeaks when used. do y'all sell brake pads, friction plates, or any other broken internal brake parts that might need replacing?

Good for you Ben. Thank you for the info .I'm looking at a 2002 caterpillar 430 D . 6,000 hours on it .full glass and it has the extended hoe . It does have the extra hydraulic lines for attachments.
