It is pretty indigestible. Raw milk is baby food. You are (definitely ) not a baby. It does you no good whatsoever. But you´re on the right track ... Get local veg. and grow your own. As you say "Sod the supermarkets." People need to think as you do.

I do hope that the farmers stand firm because I can almost guarantee that the big supermarkets will be monitoring the ‘sign-up’s’ to the website and any farmers that they recognise as a supplier will be threatened with sales reductions or, more likely, cancellations. It’s a well known methodology of the big supermarkets.

I agree with Richard. I also only eat one meal a day but that meal is made up of really good quality organic ingredients and because it is good quality you don't need so much of it. It works out cheaper to buy a weeks food than buying enough rubbishy chemically manufactured food to cover 3 meals a day for a week! I like this Food Hub initiative. I rarely go to supermarkets. A lot of farmers offer online delivery services, so I usually buy my meat & fish monthly. I get my veg from local farm stalls or markets. Cook everything from scratch. I have always said that the reason that there is so much Bowel & Stomach cancer is down to the chemical/packet foods sold in supermarkets. These diseases weren't hardly heard of decades ago.

Brilliant to see this happening, and I hope there are some outlets in Scotland on the list soon. I buy less than 5% of my food from supermarkets now - the quality has plummeted, and prices for some goods are higher than in independent and organic shops. I'm happy to see that my niece, in her 20s, also rarely buys from supermarkets and cooks a lot of her own food - even makes her own bread. There is hope for the next generation!

I really cannot remember being ill as a child, yet the government has convinced the frightened ones that raw milk can make you seriously ill or even kill you. It's very, very much the opposite. Now at 65, I still drink raw milk to this day, and I've never been ill off it yet.

Can't wait to see this. I've tried before and found the box always seemed to be potatoes full. I don't eat carbs in order to control diabetes, and understandably the box will be made up of carbs as thats the most common veg. Had fish delivered this way too, product was good but the required quantity took up all my freezer space.

Yes, this sounds like a very useful website indeed! Let's hope it all comes together NATIONWIDE!... Because it's exactly what we need! In my area, in the North-East of Scotland, we have no independent grocery stores on our High Streets anymore! And now, they have removed the public bus service to two in little villages near my home-town too. In Moray. Making it even more difficult for those without a car to get there...

From $37K to $65K that's the minimum range of profit return every month I think it's not a bad one for me, now I have enough to pay bills and take care of my family.

I think it will need a period of readjustment for both us the public and the farmers, We both need to move away from the convenience of supermarkets. I'm not a farmer, but I would imagine that if you can secure a contract to supply all of what you produce to one of the big supermarket chains then it gives a certain level of security (albeit at a cost as to the price you get) and for sure supermarkets can be very convenient to shop at, free parking, get everything, you need under one roof and not just food, but drink, electrical goods, mobile phone deals, bedding, prescriptions, etc, etc. But I do believe that a great many people are ready for to make these changes in their lives. 🙂

Great, thank you so much. I have been trying to find delivery to my home from local farmers but when you cant get out to go see it is a real problem. What happened to the Co-Operative Society? Ah, thats a good idea; the consumer buying shares in the produce from farms....

Well done, I have been waiting for something like this to happen. I hope there is a hub close to me as well!

If this can make more local areas available this could really take off. At present places are a bit far for me for a quick shop, only a stock up visit. Many farmers havent known the alternative places to sell, so this could be a real help.

I wonder how many hospitals in the UK could use local producers much more than ordering food wholesale in the vans that arrive. Pubs could do the same although most of them probably do. We can always do more. I have difficulty finding suppliers but use what's local. This idea of a food finders hub ought to be successful.
