Regarding the Voice Acting, i was actually quite surprised how good it was on Eternights ( at least the Japanese voice acting in which i played ), considering the fact that the game was made by one single person and it was their first game and being able to have people putting a good performance for your game is a good achievement.

I'm not a fan of the social link, I'm not always in the mood to know about my companions, I usually want lore, progression n gameplay above social aspects, but I can deal with if I have to

Eternights is a too short game, but wow I liked it more than I thought I would. I'd definitely recommend it for someone who wants a quicker dive in some supernatural with some social aspects and not super refined but still tense and visceral combat. Glad BB softened his stance on Eternights. I don't know anything about Crynachina, so I shall continue watching the video. But don't really want to just say Eternights is better in every way without playing the other.

I plan on eventually playing both, but I'm leaning towards Crymachina, purely for the gameplay. It looks like good fun. I played the demo of Eternights a while back, and it seemed promising, but I want to wait for a good sale now that my expectations are tempered.

Now for voice acting, I'm not an native english speaker, but I mostly played games in english for lack of localization, but when i can play JRPGs with JP dub I'll unless its Final Fantasy, I can't explain why Final Fantasy is the only series I can play dub instead of sub, but occasionally I play sub to feel the difference, but in general I'm always choosing the sub for my games, I even go for the audio file if my game dosen't have the native option to switch, I did with Lost Dimension n it helped a lot, but I dropped since the game just sluggish too much

I have not play either games, but crystar left a real sour taste in my mouth. The front loading of the story killed pacing and I overall didn't find the combate all that fulling, the crafting system for progression was confusing. At best I can say Crystar had good aesthetics and music and it seem crymachine keep this tradition. Why enter night sound like a good time, I'm not keen on social links. I'm under the impression neither games are for me since I'm far more used to standard action / character action games. My last action rpg I enjoyed was Ragnarok Odyssey Ace, Chantelise, dragon mark from death. These are much more rooted in arcade like game experience where their minimal to no progression system which I tend to prefer. This video still enlightened me and I appreciate it.

Interestingly, it seems Eternights puts more of it's focus on story and character, where Crymachina seems to be more focused on the mechanics of combat and atmosphere.

No, the bulk of crymachina is story with maybe 20 percent combat. Most levels are shorter than the cut scene they lead into

I didn't finish it yet, but Crymachina, no contest. Edit: After I finished it, I'm not sure. Story-wise, I still find Eternight to be rushed with weird English script and a lot of the plot didn't get explain, but it nailed character story and their development in the story, mostly in the social events. On the other hand, Crymachina story actually show great character dynamic and central theme that executed decently, but the character story is often fall flat with the exception of Enoa and their backstory is mostly relegate to text archive files. At least that game's story didn't miss any contexts in the main story, while in Eternight I still can't help but question some stuffs, such as the main villain's motivation and how the anti-age drug Eternight caused the apocalypse and related to the main villain. Gameplay-wise, I think the combat in Eternight is more challenging despite being simple, mainly due to there's no level up system to brute force the game. Other criticism I have is that the motorcycle mini-game in Eternight is trash, and the coordinate mechanic in Crymachina is very frustrating, as there's little to no hints what coordinate is working and get what. I'm in the post game, and I'm still not too sure about what else to do beside fighting portal bosses and new area.

Have yet to give Crymachina a stab, but I have played through Eternights. It's not bad, and I had fun with it, but definitely had some gripes with it, mainly focused on the combat (since I'm personally not as good of a judge of story).

Played both. Eternights wins by far. Crymachina had some interesting moments but it got so boring, not to mention the atrocious amount of grinding needed.

Eternights is better imo. I found Cry Machina underwhelming with a weird gaccha system tied with equipment or loot based on leveling ,dull reused environments, cool looking but repetitive combat mired with a very tedious grinding structure that really ruined it for me especially when you add the fact that there are brutal difficulty spikes forcing you to grind no matter what. Truly a game that loved wasting my time..

It's interesting to think that the word gacha has become associated with any type of random loot system.
