Well I never made it on to the Spindrift set , but I feel like I could walk it blindfolded because a friend of mine Don Marshall described it to me so vividly and from what I have seen on the shows themselves , I actually have a set of Blueprints he gave me (that I still have to frame come to think of it) . He also gave me a set of Seaview Blueprints that he had lying around his condo.He was a great guy I will miss him he left us in on Oct 30 2016 . .He also used to sell cars when he wasn't acting , and sold me the best Camaro I ever had it was a 92 RS

In one episode Don Matheson goes through a back hatch of the spindrift seating compartment to another part of the ship which was part of the the upper deck of The Jupiter 2 from Lost In Space! Irwin re-using everything as was his habit. It never appeared again.

I would have to agree with you. That day was awesome!!!! Looking back on it the images of the clothes and the car really capture the time in which we lived. Now that endless forrest we used to make movies in is just another row of houses. I miss the 70's.

Irwin Allen redid Swift's 1726 classic with a rocketship instead of a sailboat and miniskirts instead of both Korean Hanbok hoop skirted farthingales of Daeshin Chima crinoline and double slit skirt Cheongsams as did Leroy Yerxa's "Cosmic Sisters" to have inspired Arther C. Clarke's 1957 story in "Venture" about Princess Leia Lau as a giantess adapted for comic book "Big Stand Up Shock Suspense Stories #3". "Little Everyman" by Deborah Needleman Armintor describes how the18th Century was similar to wild hippies of 1960s through early 1970s.

These episodes of yours are an amazing series of fan art. Another bit of trivia: in that room that houses the fuel-regulator pump, you can see panels off a real ex-military AN/FSQ-7 SAGE computer to the right. Parts off these decommissioned machines show up in an amazing number of film and TV items made in the 1960s and 1970s. In the “Time Tunnel” you can see the same sorts of pieces in the large bank of instrumentation to the side of the Tunnel.

To Mr. rocket7697. I liked your comment, but please keep in mind my show is based on fantasy vehicles in a practice world. My comment about the ships color was more aimed at art direction than reality. As a film maker I probably would not have considered an orange ship with flashy lights as my first choice for something hidden in the Forrest. Obviously looking at it now I can't imagine it any other way. Hope you liked the show.

You was excellent in explaining the Spindrift from front to back, The props effects was good allso, I love how you took clips and sounds from the series, Especialy when Dan was saying wait a minute! I laughed when I heard that, With all them rooms in the Spindrift, There's no room for the engine mechanics, LOL!

I got a Spindrift model in 1969. I was 10 years old. I'd sort of put the main parts together then left it in the back window on a hot summer day in Vernal, Utah. Came out of the museum to find a sagging orange mess. And I wouldn't mind having giant security officer John hunting ME with a flashlight.

Cold War had a Kaiju genre of Gigantics to represent how Communists obsessed with leaving something for museum posterity memorials focused on construction of gigantic monuments of public works to lack consumer goods for Communists to label "Plannedobsolescence". Space Race was often a case of Soviet mega rocket engines versus Anglo American microelectronic avionics since only indigenous cars communists could buy were Trabants or a Lada of Volga copied to use West European parts. Remember Hollywood films "Silk Stockings" along with "Iron Petticoat" where communists only valued feminine sheer fabrics for parachutes versus Soviet film "Meshenkin's Concert" 1948 where an all American girl purchases African pygmy "uncle tom thumb" for a baby doll. My mother's humorous reaction was "who would want a Colored or a Black for a baby doll" to unintentionally describe how Black kids are often raised in terrible conditions while Asian kids are often raised in of ideal conditions since Noguchi of Hamgyong was no nonsense engineer who insisted on a technical education so Maoists and B'Pyongyang Kim Dynasty labeled non Soviet technicians as "Japanese collaborators". Spindrift lifting body is an excellent design even if it is of vintage 1930s pulps since Irwin Allen used NASA military surplus electronics.
