NLD Episode 13

This week Charlotte Richardson is joined by Ebbsfleet United Goalkeeper Nathan Ashmore, Non-League Paper writer David Richardson, former Tooting & Mitcham United Manager Frank Wilson, and former Met Police Manager Jim Cooper.
This week the team discuss issues around racism in Non-League football, and Nathan shares some of his personal experiences. They also review Barnet's magnificent FA Cup tie with Brentford, as well as the National League Team Of The Week.

I was sat 3 metres away from the incident with a friend. There was a Linesman also 2 metres away. There was also the Chesterfield Striker, who tried to get the ball off of Ashmore. None of those or myself heard any racial abuse, just the comments about his unprofessional time wasting. The Referee even booked him and yet he still continued with his rant at the fans. Any other Referee would have booked him again for the continued time wasting but instead she added 7 minutes of time on. The Linesman, Fortune and my friend are all Black/Coloured and would have easily noticed if anything Racist was being said. One of the group of Supporters shouting at Ashmore was Coloured/Black. This keeper is everything that is wrong with the Game. He pushes the boundaries and taunts the fans and then repeatedly cries the Racist Card when things flare up. To be honest he is a decent Keeper and if stayed focused could easily play at a higher level. Chesterfield Fans are a lot of things but they are not Racist.

You seriously need to get a life mate.Because you didn't hear it,that does not mean it didn't happen.You make no mention of the pitch invasion and attack on Nathan in his goalmouth, or perhaps that's ok in your book?

Mark Thorpe oh but it’s okay for ashmore to Jump into groups of fans and argue with fans consistently, I’ll guess that’s okay, he’s a footballer, you get stick but you can’t jump into a group of fans, ebbsfleet are a disgrace and you’ve literally just had another brawl today. Your team is a joke and you need to focus on playing football and not fighting

Nathan Ashmore knows that their wasn't any racist comments to him at Chesterfield that's why he removed the retweet of the racist comment on the you tube video when he realised that it was his own Ebbsfleet fans being racist towards a Chesterfield player Jerome Binnom- Williams .and not Chesterfield fans being racist towards him. We fans at Chesterfield do not condone racism but Nathan Ashmore is a hypocrite who incites opposing fans by arguing with them.

First of all i would like to say i am 100% behind getting racism out of football. There's no place for it. And us Chesterfield fans have been called alot over the years but racists we are not. Ashmore was winding fans up from the 1st minute and as youd expect got alot of stick for it. NOTHING ABOUT HIS RACE WAS SAID. He was quick to upload a video on twitter after the game of a supporter at the game shouting racist things, then he was just as quick to delete it when he found out it was one of his own fans. Do you not think that CFC fans or players who are black / coloured would have come forward if anything at all was said. Racism is disgusting. Accusing an innocent set of fans of racism is just as bad. Off the pitch he seems like a down to earth bloke who has had it hard, undoubtedly, but on the pitch, you seriously have to change your attitude, because ir stinks. Winds up the opposition from the 1st minute, and then throws the race card every time. Stop tarnishing clubs names.
