Something I’ve learned playing this game is that when you are rolling down looking for items, ALWAYS buy items that are on sale (or rocks) so long as you have enough gold to keep refreshing the shop. This is because when you sell these items, you will get 100% of your money back, thus there is no downside if you need to immediately sell the item. This generally will increase your build options, especially in the early game.

This was my favorite build before the spike meta took off. Very, very strong both offensively and defensively with the cursed dagger. Hammer stuns help mitigate while your cursed dagger scales with debuffs and crit chance. Super bonkers strong build.

I think the heroic pot is worth. He didnt run out of stam s single time. Even when he proced the first pot it looked like the hammer hit got trough. And he had one more put in the end

2:24 would have sold the rock for the piggy bank. Edit: 4:39 didn't expect that, but... Would have sold the rock at the second opportunity for a second piggy bank chance. :D

My tactics: many gem boxes and mass combine(+sell non-necessaries) all gems without hesitation. Piggy is worth only on ranger for luck combine, gembox is more universal - you can choose income - 1 gold or gem. In this battle gems are on low level, so not even recognized full potential of high tier ones. 150% chance of removal oponent buffs in example on rib saw… Also not socketed gems have big potential (red triggers every 1.5s, which is helpful to procs arrow item - ranger class 10gold reward)

The devs aren't giving Reaper a cohesive early game. Stacking pans is very bag heavy and has a slower value ramp than ranger's basically deterministic start. I see people selling coffin because it doesn't scale into the end game while the Ranger bag is some of the best end game scaling in the game. Losses hit rating way too hard. I seriously hate when games do this. I shouldn't be forced to win 3-4 runs in a row to make any progress. You are basically given a 50/50 anytime you hit start match that your opponent has a better board. But you are expected to be winning all of your matches?? Stack your best gear in as many Fanny Packs as humanly possible even though reworking your board is tedious. Especially on Reaper, getting coffin value is way less relevant than fitting your main source of damage into all the fanny packs. Sapphires are still OP as hell. It's like they wanted 1 item to have everything. Stacks chill, generates mana, AND avoids armour. Book spam + Sapphire = easy runs. Shields are probably the most import defense in the current meta. And stacking them with Corrupted Crystals. Fusing Spiked Shield is certainly a value loss, tusk is good early but Buckler's stamina drain is way more relevant in the current meta. Stamina bags should imo be worth 4. It eats up my bag rolls and destroys ramp opportunities most of the time with no plus side.

yeah hammer dagger is one of the worst builds for the early game. since its super heavy reliant on rng. you lose to basically all wooden sword whetstone/ hero swords. you lose to thorns, you lose to pan. which those 3 make up about 90% of all early game builds. I typically go for sacking 3 early rounds for pigs and only buying sale items or daggers. though i do sometime have runs that i dont see a hammer until round 6 or 7, even when on 40% rare chance round I roll about 20 times. which at that point if i dont find the hammer the run is unplayable.

I find pan builds require too much backpack space and set up for what it does. Maybe could use a bit of a buff, the pan giving speed (like the green diamonf on the upgraded pan) to the food on top of damage, for example.

I suddenly feel so understood :p Btw before I forget again, in a recent video you mentioned surrounding the Villain Sword with stones - I fell into the same trap in a recent run, that doesn't actually work, Villain Sword only works with Melee Weapons, so Daggers are your best bet there ^^

No, daggers is the worst bet for It because of thorns, u need to use all stamina fast to only attack with It, If u attack with daggers with 0 dmg u still gonna get destroyers by thorns. Just put some stamina hungry weapons near It and Let It with high attack speed

Yeah, I think the health potion wasn't super worth it. You're always going to be 1 or 2 gold short of what you want though, that's just how these things go either way haha

I feel you bro ... Since i joined diamond early game does not like 100% of any missplay ... Its like playing against only the meta build 😅 like double wooden sword and 2 sharpening stones ... I mean its so much luck to even do that in the first round and than you see a second round hero sword with a wooden sword and 2 sharpening stones and you think to yourself ... Wtf is that shit how do you even do that 😂 i mean 1 wooden sword into hero sword and than buying 1 wooden sword into 2 more sharpening stones is just so damn lucky

It actually isn't as you sack your first 2-3 rounds farming whetstones. They are in the majority of the item pool. I'm finding transitioning into the mid game challenging since it's there that you get screwed out of bows, acorns, affordable bag space, and shields.

@@Asusbreaker the idea is you roll through all of your rolls and reserve or buy the remaining whets. You can get lucky with sales which will jumpstart your board earlier than average but you should definitely bare minimum be seeing your extra sword and at least 1 whetstone for turn 1 and 2 more for turn 2.

@@ophion818 yeah and if you have 2 wooden swords(one costs 3) and 2 whetstones (one costs 4) you need to get atleast all three in the first roll or with a cheap whetstone after you rolled once ... And you need the same kinda luck in the second round ... Which is possible dont get me wrong but pretty lucky .... Now my luck is that i played against these exact builds like 3 times in a row ...

@@Asusbreaker typically you get 1 wooden sword and 1 whetstone on your turn 1 board with a second whetstone to merge round 2. It's so consistent I have yet to fail that step. I have failed 2 more whets by round 3 but always pick up the last on round 4. And if you fight reapers in any of those initial rounds you get a free win unless you fail a hit which has happened to me. Round 5 hero long sword is as i have experienced fairly common. At this point i recommend getting bag space, bucklers, more garlic if you had good rolls or sales i typical spend excess on them, and any good sale items, and transition your board to bows and acorns. I watched a couple Grandma Tier players to learn the strategy although i personally haven't ranked up that high yet. I recommend checking out those players as they are a great source of information.
