It's a shame English towns and cities have been allowed to get like this, in alot of European countries they have cleaning teams that make the streets spotless every morning, the issue is that people have been separated socially now, no community, the aim is just to keep us spending as much of our wages as possible before the next wage payment. Alot of places in the UK are less welcoming than other countries now.

In reality it's a form of what they call Jerrymandering and it means that now London is a bigger area, they can move people about more freely within it, it's used to change the political vote in an area, where the suburbs were conservative areas they have been able to move loads of people from Labour supporting areas to break it up

Even taking into inflation train fares were much lower a few decades ago. We had a cheap basic service with frequent trains and lots of carriages per train. The refreshments were poor but we got round that by bringing our own food and drinks. The rot started with the Beeching cuts in the 1960s, leaving many towns such as Monmouth without a railway station. Some of the disused railway lines were turned into cycle paths by Sustrans, but many were built upon. You could get a direct train from Penarth to Barry but now you have to take a bus or take a train to Grangetown in Cardiff and change there. There is a cycle path between Penarth centre and Lavernock, but it wasn't developed further as the farmer who owns the land there won't allow it on his land. Michael Portillo was the only Conservative MP in the 80s and 90s who was in favour of train travel and fought the closure of the Carlisle to Settle line. Most of the cabinet then would have wanted to rip up the entire railway network outside of the south east.

Hi Ben! You probably already know this: Never leave your luggage on the bed as soon as you enter the room. Check before in case there are bed bugs. ( look out for black stains on the mattress, below the sheets). Bed bugs can be found in 1 star or 5 star hotels. Take care!

The next thing I'd have checked was the location of and access to the fire escape - especially as the windows only opened a crack. Travelling doesn't seem to have taught him even the basic lessons...

Keep those borders open…🙄 It’s actually well known that the UK has turned into a complete dumpster fire in the last 15. -20 years at least and it’s just getting worse.. Now your government has declared that there is no actual “Englishmen” …. You know… the typical white English person.. They took your identity away and the only reason I know this is because of people like Niigel Farage… Canada sucks ass but our horrible weather keeps many “migrants” away.. or they come and can’t handle the depressing weather.. You’d NEVER see garbage like that in my town.. It’s a oil and gas town where the men work hard on the pipeline’s or in the oil industry.. not much “diversity” which means there’s UNITY and it’s a great place to live if you want you and your kids to live in peace and harmony.. Alberta is the Texas of Canada… conservative and mostly common sense… I would NEVER live or visit the UK now.. I’d hate to have acid thrown in my face or have some lunatic with a knife screaming… well you know what terrorists like to scream as they do their god’s work..🙄

Love your authentic content. Really informative and eye-opening. Kiwi here now living in the UK. Back in Auckland, New Zealand, we have some dodgy neighborhoods too - in fact, far worse. Truth be told, they tend to be the more diverse ones too. We also have a huge gang problem, which of course adds to the rich cultural tapestry of these areas. I'm worried that the UK is heading down the same path, in terms of failed diversity/integration policies. Things will only get worse, especially with the recent waves of illegal migration we're experiencing here. (In New Zealand, at least we don't need to deal with invasions of boat people.) I currently live in Devon - it's relatively safe here, and also relatively culturally homogenous. These two aspects, of course, are linked. But spineless politicians won't admit it.

Lived in Britain from early 2000’s to just around the 2010’s, loved my time there and the people. Returned post pandemic for a reunion of some old friends and that was kept basic due to cost of living, all these lads collect £35-£48k wages. Visited some the water hole I used to frequent in my younger years and noted how run down the areas had looked. Friends spoke about crime in the areas had rampant up, wishing to leave, but jobs outside of the area not as frequently available and pay not matching house price’s they were stuck. I just put it down to that city, my partner and I decided to drive around the midlands and wales. But towns were more and more looking neglected and improvised, I understand that councils have gone bankrupt. I left with the since that people had just given up.

I think it’s important to mention that our government - which supposedly backs the levelling-up of deprived towns and regions - is the same bunch of ideologues who cut funding to councils and public services by a quarter in the last decade. Would streets be as covered in litter, footpaths obscured by weeds, and reeking of piss, if councils had adequate resources to look after public spaces? If you vote for cuts, you get cuts. This video documents the consequences.

Almost everything in UK is behind compared to other European countries, housing, airports, healthcare, roads, Law Enforcement, right down to the water pressure in the house. Germany's law enforcement took down a coup, Belgium's healthcare ranks 3rd in the world, France has arguably the best water supply in the world, Italy has on average some of the longest living people in the world with a blue zone in their country. Norway's prison system is great too, meanwhile England still hires surgeons and GP's from Europe even though they left the EU. Their own government doesn't play by its own rules, Boris Johnson and Matt Hancock during the pandemic are prime examples. i was a young Deckhand in the 70's working on a Coaster and we sailed all of Europe and a bit north africa but England was our favorite country to go to,we had great times hanging out in pubs and eating fish & chips and all the rest just a great place to be with mostly easygoing people,so i have not been there for over 40 years i am shocked what i see on tv and youtube..the total decay..mindblowing really..sad to say my own country,Holland,is not doing much better..Holland used to be safe and clean and there were no homeless or drifters,it's a nightmare unfolding all over Europe 🤨

Looking at all the neglect, and the litter & rubbish makes me wonder why are people so dirty and why is it they couldn't care less about their surroundings. Life was much better when there was discipline in the home and in the schools. This is what you get when kids are dragged up with no guidance or consequences for bad behaviour. There is no respect for anything now.

I'd rather live in Basingstoke than Manchester.. Liam Gallagher is from Manchester which is reason enough to avoid the place at all costs... I'm joking.. he's a great singer !! The hotel room looked luxury !!.. and I'd have scoffed that breakfast down too !

Page Hall isn’t scary. It’s actually quite interesting and a good place to shop. You should have tried walking round Bootle or Scotland Road in Liverpool in the 60s. And the the population there was all “indigenous “. And the streets were just as filthy. The common denominator is poverty.

I'm impressed that Ben learned the language of the locals, to bring us all the stories. Serioulsy though: its a shame what the Tories have done to this country and that people were fooled into believing Brexit would sort it all out.
@badgerpa9
@badgerpa9 Жыл бұрын
Now the local government needs to do their job and clean things up, you do not need to follow EU and can actually clean things up and get some law and order in the towns. If no one is left to take pride in the place it will not get cleaned up. That is the problem with people that complain but never do anything to change for the better.

I can almost guarantee you that the rubbish on the street is from recycling that was dutifully left outside the house night before, then it got windy and it ended up being emptied out of the bags and swept All OVER by the gusts. Recycling is the biggest cause of littering, with the current system.
