In Tanzania the old trains are super messed up...To be honest most Tanzanians prefer to travel with Bus and Aeroplane.... But good news is now We are building SGR (STANDARD GAUGE RAILWAY ) WHICH the first phase is almost in completion..( will be from Dar to Morogoro) Second phase will be from Morogoro to Dodoma So far state of the art railway station in Dar is almost 90% done ...I think you have saw it So we are looking forward 1 year from now ...Our railway system will be as good as never before... Currently the railway we use are the meter gauge railway which are small and the railway lines are super old some build by the colonialist .. So you can see ..... A lot of work is needed railway system... Luckily the government is closely working on it .... Nice video.. Hakuna matata Thanks for sharing your experience. Upendo Na Amani kwa watu wote.

I had a bus tour experience from Dar es Salaam to Mwanza back in 2014. It took 18 hrs starting from 4am until 11:50pm. I only took some biscuit and water during that trip and worst thing is the hotel doesn't have any food since it was late. When i decided to get back to Dar i was lucky to find out there's flight operated by fastjet from Mwanza to Dar and it was not expensive (300k tanzanian shilling, which was 150usd at that moment). Anyway the trip worth a lot, Lake Vi was quite beautiful, i even travelled on that Vessel from Mwanza to Bukoba. The views of the Lake was unique and amazing.

Your trip reminds me of the train trip I took from Yagoon to Mandalay in Myanmar. What a night mare I had the compartment to myself but hardly slept the whole night. I had to lay down all the way because the bouncing of the carriage was so bad it started to hurt my back. It was a blessing when the trip was finished in 14 hours and I arrived safely.

Greetings from Canada 🇨🇦 Well that's an eye opener! 😮 I'm considered "poor" in Canada but I've never seen such conditions in my life! 😮👉 I guess I don't have nearly as much to complain about as I had thought 🤷♂️ "Poverty" in Canada looks nothing like what these folks have to put up with 😮 In Canada, that train would be hauled to the scrap yard! 😮 And the owner / operators would be arrested for numerous safety and hygiene violations! 🚨 The other day I was kind of grumbling about the porcelain enamel being chipped away on a few spots inside my toilet bowl 😠👉🚽 But damn! At least my "toilet" isn't literally a hole in the floor! 😮 And at least I don't have to share it with hundreds of other people! 😮 I've just lost my "right" to complain about almost everything! 🤷♂️ Other than my health issues, most of my problems are "first world problems" 🙄

At least the train left. Here in Germany the DeutscheBahn does not. Gets cancelled very frequently.

Apologies, just saw this, Backpacker Ben, My comment is both late and somewhat off-topic but meant to be helpful. The subject & risks of eating doubtful food is frequently a challenge. Suggest a dietary change to Keto, as you prepare for these trips, which can allow you to fast without any performance limitations easily for 24 and even 48 hours. This way, dreadful train rides can be just that, you don't need to worry about eating on the voyage. Love your stuff, very brave, sensitive, and fun!

Many people in the USA, Europe, Canada and other developed countries take so much for granted. God bless Africa. We are a beautiful country with lots of resources and potentials, but our attitude needs to change so that we can improve our standards of living. It starts with me, with you and each person doing what is right for our development. Definitely, good leadership, good governance is so crucial. Some countries are going in the right direction. Majority are still far behind.

I was watching the German edition of 'Who wants to be a Millionaire' when one of the candidates said she'll spend her winnings on the 'Blue Train'. So I looked it up on KZbin, next video recommended to me was this. Now I'm hooked on this horrible train and left you a sub :)

I laugh the whole video whoever is operating that train can do much better no excuses. That is horrible great opportunity for African entrepreneurs to invest in that market.
