Thanks for sharing a beautiful journey. My wife and three kids hiked from Seward to Hope in 2003. I only recall seeing one cabin in those days, but I think there were a couple more. We saw many bears and were confronted once by an unhappy grizzly, but all turned out well. The southern part included some vicious bushwacking, but we avoided some by following the creek bed.

Thank you for your comment. Sounds like you had a harrowing adventure. That’s why an Alaska trip is always memorable.

Thank you. That was a nice, relaxing, comfortable trip. I took it about a week after returning from the PCT. I highly recommend it.

What a treat to have cabins to sleep in! Lovely photography and music to go with!

Thanks Maureen. I figured after the PCT, a little comfort was in order. I probably could hike 10,000 miles if I had a cabin to sleep in each night.

What a beautiful place and what an absolutely beautiful and inspiring video! Thank you so much for sharing, akwild1! My own ‘post-pct’ hike is coming up in November when I will do the Overland Track here in Tasmania. It’s an iconic 65-85km 4-7 day walk from Cradle Mountain to Lake St Clair in the Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair NP. I’ll be walking over the roof of Tasmania with my son Quinn (22), nine years after he did it with me when he was only 13. Thank you again!

Thanks Ben. What a joy it’ll be to hike with your son. Great memories to be made. I’m going to research the Overland Track.

At 70 years old, and no ACL and little cartilage in either knee, anytime you put a pack on equals pain. I prefer X-country skis, but the cabins made this hike so comfortable. Thanks Ray for making it possible.

Heading there end of this month! First time in Alaska. Suggestions for 2-3 days early October after our hike?

That’s a tough one because it might snow at any time. Lots of trails in the Chugach might be open if the winter storms hold off.
