I like hummus with Fritos Scoops (the big ones) as a nice "if I'm going to stop" lunch. I like throwing in some smoked paprika in the mix or the everything bagel seasoning for the nice collection of seeds and spices.

@@tracykooken2606 Had we known ticks were going to be an issue we would have sprayed. My dog is even on tick treatment. 😢 Luckily, the local sheriff drove through our camp and gave us a 45-minute ride to town. Otherwise, not sure how we would have gotten out. Our dog was in a lot of pain.

Hi just found your channel and will binge watch some of your food recipe ideas. I do have to say this is the first video I watched because I’m a pretty prolific backpacker including the pct, TCT, Long Trail in Vermont and more.. I bring them up because I’m sick of a lot of the food I have been eating so looking for new ideas and hummus sounds amazing. I am frustrated though because I replayed this video over ten times and I cannot make out the name of your dried hummus. I’m also a KZbinr and a pro tip when suggesting the names of things is to slow down and clearly say them as well as maybe putting it in a text on the screen. You also have the package in your hand but at no point did you show it. I will sometimes take a picture of the package and show it in my video. It doesn’t make sense to suggest something but after I’ve watched over ten times I still don’t know what it’s called or what it looks like so I can try it. Besides that I’m looking forward to watching a lot of videos and thank you for taking the time to make them. I definitely know the time and effort it takes. Cheers

Thanks for the feedback. I'm aware that I talk fast and am trying to slow down. It's my natural speech pattern. Sounds normal in my head. lol!! I also now have a video editor that can add photos, captions, etc to videos that I don't have the skills to add. As for the hummus product, it's no longer available which seems to be a common occurrence for hummus mix. I'm currently using the product made by Outdoor Herbivore. outdoorherbivore.com/classic-hummus-mix-bulk/?ref=backcountryfoodie (affiliate link)

Very informative videos. As a older hiker I have to eat healthy and the premade meals are sodium loaded. This Info for me needs to become a new vernacular.

DIY meals are easier to prepare than most might think. Quite a few backpacking cookbooks include gourmet meals that require lots of steps. Our recipes are purposefully designed to be easy to prepare at home and on trail. We're all busy at home and typically starving on trail. Time is precious. :)

Looks great, but how fun is it cleaning the pot when on trail?
@backcountryfoodie3 жыл бұрын
I'm not a huge fan of doing dishes on trail, but I'm even less of a fan of plastic waste created when eating out of the baggies. Cleaning the pot is the lesser of two evils. Although, we're currently trail testing compostable bags. They will allow for eating out of the bag without creating plastic waste. Win-win! If we like them, we're considering selling them on our webpage as they're only available in huge quantities. Stay tuned...
