Second day of my overnighter trip in Harriman State Park. All shot on my phone (OnePlus 7T) to keep the gear that I carried simple.

Good job on your video. Curious about your base weight?

Unfortunately I only weighed the bag with all gear included my food and a liter of water (though I carried more water the first day) and it came out to be 21.5 lbs so I'll estimate my base weight to be ~ 18.5 lbs.

Planning to do a similar loop next weekend using the same train access. Having a great time exploring all the hiking within a train ride of NYC (and marveling at the fact that I can get to Richmond, VA and back for about the same amount as some of these little towns in the Hudson River valley).

Yeah I put the train ride footage in my video to highlight that you don't need a car to go backpacking if you live in the NYC area. Have a good trip next weekend!

Nice load out. Good to see another hammock guy. Pretty cool being able to catch a train for a weekend trip. Hike on!

I just got back from a Harriman overnighter. I don't think the train is stopping along the park on the weekends for another few months. I had to catch a Coach USA bus from Tuxedo to Port authority.

I hiked the 20 mile section of the AT that goes through Harriman and Bear mountain state park last year, and been meaning to do it again this year when I can cause it was a good time. Thanks for watching!

I live out West, but I spent a year in NYC about 20 years ago. I grew up camping in Utah, but I never attempted it when I was out there. So cool to see that something like this is accessible by train, but also weird that I've never really heard anyone talk about it before. Anyway, cool video. Thanks.

How did you put all stuff in the bag? I think my sleeping bag already took lots of space in the backpack. I have a 50L Teton backpack.
