Looks awesome :) was it OK to make it to all the places in just 3 weeks or would it be better to skip some? Planning a Vietnam trip in October and preparing an itinerary :) any advice would help! THX :)

Did you do a tour when you went to Vietnam? Or what did you do? I'm planning a trip to these places but they're over 1k USD
@tomneville8 жыл бұрын
No, we booked most trips ourselves. Vietnam Backpacker Hostels were good to stay with and they also had some good trips. We did the Halong Bay trip and the Top Gear Road Trip (Hai Van Pass) with them.

Where was the cliff jump, tobogganing and cable car that are at like 5:20ish? Great video, really excited to head out there later this year
@tomneville8 жыл бұрын
They're all just outside Da Lat. We organised the canyoning/cliff jump at Da Lat Alan Hostel with vietaction.com. The tobogganing and cable car are at Datanla Waterfalls, just outside Da Lat. You'll have a blast

It was quite overcast up north and sunny down south. We went in January so I guess that weather was to be expected.

Hello, I am visiting Vietnam in February, what is the weather like there at that time? Is it cold or chilly? Do I need to bring a winter coat or something? Thanks in advance.
@tomneville8 жыл бұрын
We were quite lucky when we visited in January as we only had one or two days of light rain. Up north in Sapa it was around 15 degrees Celsius and you would need a light rain jacket. As we moved south the temperatures increased. Hue was between 15 and 20 degrees Celsius and when we reached Hoi An it was around 25 to 30 degrees C. In Nha Trang and Ho Chi Minh it was approximately 30 to 35 degrees C. Just bring a jumper and light rain jacket for when you are travelling up north. You can also buy cheap North Face jackets etc in the markets in Hanoi just before you travel further north. Enjoy your trip!

Thank you for the quick response. I won't be going up to Sapa this time.

Hi Tom, first of all great video. Really made me look forward to my trip. There is one thing i'd like to ask you about. How did you manage to travel by bike in Vietnan? Did you need an IDP or did you just rent one from a rental store with your drivers licence. I am going to Vietnam this June but i'm sure if it will be covered by my travel insurance riding a moped "legally". Please respond. Thanks.
@tomneville8 жыл бұрын
Hi, we just rented them but did not require a licence. Not sure how that would affect your travel insurance!
@alexanderhill-cp8be8 жыл бұрын
Thanks for responding so quickly. Yeah I heard its really easy to rent a bike over there without a licence. I was just worried about medical expenses should the worse happen while riding because the insurance company would see it as an illegal activity and I would not be covered. Having read a lot about it most people who travel across Vietnam they just go for it regardless of the risks. Once in a lifetime opportunity I suppose. Thanks.

You can drive at your own pace!
@alexanderhill-cp8be8 жыл бұрын
I have seen on a few videos! A lot of people ride at "running" pace so it's not as dangerous as it looks. All about taking your time!

Hi! Loved the video, if doesn't bother you, How much did you spend in all the trip? I've heard Vietnam is a cheap place, and How long did you stayed? It's just I want to go there so badly but first I need an idea of how expensive it is.
@tomneville8 жыл бұрын
I guess we spent around €1500 over the course of 3 weeks. Accommodation is really cheap, ranging from around $5 US to 15$ US per night for the hostels that we stayed in. The food is great too and the meals are also really cheap. We did the Vietnam Backpackers Castaway Tour of Halong Bay which was a big enough expense of the trip at around $200 US.

It was a mix between 1080p at 30fps and 720p at 60fps on the GoPro. The Nexus 6P shot at 1080p at 30 fps.
