This is a mostly off-trail route in Montana's Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness. The stars of the show would have to be Goose Lake, Cavity Lake, Incisor Lake, Goose Creek, the unnamed Pass by the Grasshopper Glacier and the Grasshopper Glacial lakes basin.
This labor day backpacking trip was a lot more green than last year due to heavy rainfall in the absaroka-beartooths this year. The willows were still green too unlike last labor day!

Well Done! Not a big fan of music on these type of videos but I definitely enjoyed how you used it in the intro and closing. I watch you, Joey, Arron and Seeking Lost and really enjoy and am grateful that you all put in the effort that you do. Watching these productions are mini vacations for me and great sources of knowledge, when I can't get away. I had a trip planned with my son this past summer in this area. We were gonna drive south from Big Timber till the road ended and hit it for several days then wind around and take the BearTooth Highway back to the park. But with that entrance being closed , we went to the Winds instead then some peak bagging in Yellowstone. THX AGAIN....FBD

Quite epic for sure. Andrew! You pick some thrilling scenic backpacking trips. You must have a feeling of freedom to be in that great expanse. Rugged mountain ranges! Beautiful lakes! More stunning photography on your behalf.

Looks like there are some epic spots in those Beartooths. I would expect some old bear tooth to have a cavity for sure. Can't wait to see them in person.

What a stunning place. Thanks so much for sharing. I've driven many roads like that and it's typically faster and definitely easier to walk than drive.

... your comment on Upper Aero at the base of the `Spires' caught my attention. Incredible country. Spent 2 weeks on 2 trips into the Aero, Sky Top, Cairn, Desolation Lakes areas. You sure had better weather than we did. But we had slightly better fishing.

Loved this one! I love that you're using more music! So many amazing shots in this! I'm going to have to get a ground sleeping setup if I want to get up into this country! Nice job!

Thanks man! I usually use music on my expedition (4 or more days) videos kind of like a recap, this year I've just had a lot more longer trips than usual because I got more PTO at my new job. I love the beartooth high country, it's my favorite.

Fantastic "movie". As I said in a more recent video, you are lucky to have Lacey to go with you. She is quite the trooper! Important Question for the benefit of other viewers that might want to mimic a hike like this: What is your lightening / thunderstorm strategy? (Other than reducing risk by going in September....there are still thunderstorms in September). It looks like retreat options are minimal and almost any ground you camp on is "high ground".

Thank you, we go above tree line year round. We've got caught in several violent T Storms. Where there is no trees we just find some big boulders and set the tent up at the base or among larger boulders and hunker down. If we have ice axe we keep them away from the tent and under rocks / outcroppings.

It's been a while since I've been to upper and lower aero lakes but some of the best fishing I've ever had in my life was on a peninsula just off of lower aero. We were pulling in 18 to 20 inches and better cutthroat trout as quick as we could get the flies in. Great memories

I am a 12 time veteran of The Beaten Path, but I know the beartooths has so much more to offer. Right now I am sidelined rehabbing a meniscus tear so I am riding the stationary bike and looking for high quality videos to help me dream of getting back out there. This one is beautifully done and very high quality, I watched on a big screen in full 4K so I could truly appreciate the effort you put into it. As someone who loves to video capture I have a really good idea of how much work it takes to make something like this and I wanted you to know that I really appreciated you bringing this part of the beartooths home for me. Fantastic to watch.
