Backpacking the Shores of Lake Superior | Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore

It was finally time to make a backpacking trip to the upper peninsula of Michigan, and my wife decided it was also time for her to join me for a trip. With hopes of originally backpacking around Beaver Lake, we found ourselves hiking along the Lakeshore Trail much further than anticipated and turned our trip into an amazing adventure.

Thanks so much! So sorry for the late reply! Definitely took a few extra steps to capture everything, but we ended up walking around 22 miles in all with all the backtracking we did. Hopefully that helps!

Thanks so much! We did this hike on the first weekend in June this year. We started from the Little Beaver Lake Campground trailhead. We were planning on doing a short loop, but ended up hiking out to Grand Portal and back tracking to Coves campground.

Have not done that loop yet, but it's certainly on the list! Hope to get more upper peninsula trips in the next year or so!
