Great track choice! And I mean it for both the trail and music selection. This one was wonderfully shot.

Hey, thanks a lot, I appreciate the comment! I may just be an amateur youtuber and hiker but I am trying to improve with every video.

@@backpackboat1 video didn't look amateur at all to me. It was well paced and well shot. Just because you don't have a million subs doesnt mean you're a slouch with these vids!

Random camping, no facilities at all other than fire pits people have built. Thanks for watching !

i'm a little apprehensive about random camping in kananaskis. Appreciate getting a preview of conditions in these less frequented spots.

I'm glad you found it helpful. I try to include information in my videos that I think others would find useful, like trail and camp conditions. Kananaskis is a great area...I have some unfinished business there! I hope to get back out next week to get it done. If you are ever in need of more info on any of my trips let me know.

Thank you for sharing. I am planning to do the Rae like hike and camp next year in June or July, with my friend. Thanks for the tips on which trail to take. Did you have to register for any of the Rae lake camp spots? any fishing there? This would be my first backcountry experience.

Glad you found it useful, it’s a pretty good choice for a first trip. It’s a great spot and I believe fairly popular so you may be better off going on Friday to secure a better spot. This is pure random camping, no permit or registration of any kind required, and no designated tent pad, you can pitch your tent anywhere you want although better to adhere to the ‘leave no trace’ principles. Of course, no facilities of any kind either. I did see people going in with fishing gear but it didn’t strike me as a good lake for that, but I’m not a fisherman. Thanks for watching !

Sorry, just occurred to me, pickle jar lakes might be a better choice if you like fishing. I’m pretty sure the first lake is stocked and there are many more spots to camp. I’d recommend camping at the last spot I found on the fourth lake on my random camping video and walking back to the first lake to fish. I wish I had camped at the fourth lake myself, much better spot IMO.

Thank you so much for all the info, I appreciate you taking the time to tell me your experiences. Rae lakes sounds like a perfect spot, and yes “leave no trace” is for sure a rule we will respect, to ensure we don’t ruin it for others. Pickle jar lakes I’ve hike before so beautiful, I’ve seen guys fish there too on the first lake so I will try that, and camping to on the forth lake. Thank you again. Great content your putting out 👍🏽🤟🏽🇨🇦

Can please get you to confirm the fire situation at Rae lakes? Are we able to use dead fall for fire? I know elbow lake does not allow even deadfall use as fire.

@@johnnyroaming Elbow Lake is still Peter Lougheed PP thus you can only use the firewood provided. Rae Lakes is outside of the park so no issue using deadfall.

I guess I am getting old and grumpy. Did not like the music at all. But that is just me. This was worth watching just for the sunrise on the mountain. Outstanding. Great video, that is some incredible scenery. You have some great video skills.

Wornout Wrench Thank you for the feedback. I was experimenting a bit with the music and was thinking of doing it again on my next video but with something a bit more mellow. Was it the type of music you didn’t like...? As always, thanks for watching and I really do appreciate your comments!

@@backpackboat1 2 things. 1) yes, the type of music but I'm in my 60's so not my taste. 2), I found that it was too loud to hear what you were saying. If it were to be just a little quieter it would have been fine. It's not a deal breaker. I still love your vids, will watch them even if I don't care for the sound track. When is the next one coming out?

Wornout Wrench Comments noted, will make some adjustments. I’m headed out on Sunday for three days, might be a bike and hike which will make sense when you see where I’m going. Hopefully I will have part one ready for next Friday.
