I've only rented 2 preowned games and they were when i closed with her. She said both times, please don't get a new games. They're new and once they're played, theyre used. It doesn't make sense to rent a new game.

I worked in electronics at Walmart probably just a little before you worked at Gamestop. I was the same about warning over shitty games. If I had played a game or heard from a few friends that a game was garbage, I would tell people so professionally. Of course, if they still wanted it, I would accommodate graciously. But I never told someone a shitty game was good to make a sale.

I got hired in as an ASL off the street. 3 months later, I was Store Lead. Still am. I have a love/hate relationship with my job. Yes. There are some things that I would definitely change "if I were king"... but overall, while at least at my store, it's pretty stressful a lot of the time, it's a decent gig. My biggest gripe, honestly, is just lack of allocation for man-hours. But this guy... if he was my ASL, he'd definitely be on final at the very least.

In my area its as the guy said. You have to know someone to get a job there. We have three GS in a small town, they are about 5 minutes apart from one another... which makes no sense, which is why they shut their 4th store down. But generally speaking everyone who works at our GS knows each other prior to being hired. Most of them played other games together prior to getting the jobs (MTG and other card games. My dad owns the only comic/card shop in town so thats pretty much how I know those details of them).

My store had 9 extra switches outside of the 29 pre orders so we were able to give some. The Best Buy in my town had 5 for the public. When it comes to Nintendo stock, it is definitely Nintendo, not GameStop. But I've only been working here for a few weeks and have yet to see us not have any new games in stock. I also work in Lansing, Michigan so maybe my region isn't as gamer-populated as others.

gamestop's policy on checking out games is that you can take home new games its not up to the store manager however the manager you return it to is supposed to make sure it is still in new condition when you return it and if it isn't you need to buy it. That is actually in the employee handbook they give you day one. If its a low resereved game that isn't a huge game they do run out and if they don't sell all the copies they wouldn't get more copies sent to the store.

I pissed off a GameStop manager because I would buy used games and return them before the 7 day return policy was up. I did this so much I lost track of how many games I played. They got me when they gave me a gift card instead of my usual cash. I didn't realize the mistake of accepting that card till I went back a week later and wanted my cash back, they said no. I can confirm the taking "Used" games home. I dont shop at gamestop unless its a last resort. a few years ago I bought Bioshock the 3rd installment used copy. this was a few weeks after the launch. When I went up to the counter the manager was like this is the last copy we have and I have it at home if you come back in 20 mins I can go run and get it. I left at that moment and never went back. it just left a bad taste with me. If its ur only copy you would think you wont take it home.

Game stop is something else. My second job ever was this place. So much terrible stuff went on. All the underhandedness just to sell memberships and preowned games to people who dont know better, just so i could get more than 3 hours a week to get gas for college. Admitted, i was not the best at selling stuff, but i was a great employee outside of that. I interacted with customers, kept the store clean, games and collectibles always looked nice. I even dusted every time i worked. But still i only got 3 hours a week. Most of my coworkers were great, but my manager was a dick. Im 20 years old living with my mom and going to college. Im doing my best. Since im 20, food stamps required i give them some stuff involving my hours and how much i worked for and a signature from my manager. This guy is 21 and was being discriminating towards me and my mom as if i even had a choice in the matter and saying things like "oh, youre those kinda of people." Like whats that supposed to mean?? Then Im autistic. Like diagnosed multiple times. He's 100% aware that i am, yet would call me "retarded" and "stupid" when he was annoyed with my work. So as revenge i bought his Samus and metroid amiibo pack that he has held in the employee hold drawer for mooonths. I love the amiibos too making my collection up to 10. Game Stop has been kinda ruined for me after working there. There use to feel like a kinda magic at first

When / what time of day does Gamestop usually get shipments in? I keep calling different stores for the Switch and, even after the announcement, they all tell me that they don't know when they will get any in and I don't want to keep annoying the poor guy who answers the phone.

Gamestop would encourage employees to play certain new titles so we would check out new copies so we would be more knowledgeable about x and sell the game better. But employees who couldn't afford x console were just out of luck. Good luck if playing injustice 2 was required. Bleh. Glad I left for many reasons (was an ASL)

I really enjoy these videos. I work for gamestop in a roundabout way. EB Games in Canada is owned by them but at least where I work things are actually pretty different and in a good way. So for me it's like hearing about my jobs evil twin. Kind of perks me up hearing about these horror stories. We never take home new or used games as employees. That's grounds for termination we'd consider that theft.

Yeah and there are definitely some policies that carry over and are universal. Whenever there's a new policy put in place we know just from the sound of it whether it's from gamestop head office or if its from whoever is in charge of the Canadian policies.

This dude is just grilling this guy. I worked at GameStop and nobody else in the staff knew anything about games. The ones who did were self righteous douches. My point being, any real gamer knows not to ask opinions of the staff. It’s a fantasy you get over that, Gamestop is a community for gamers to talk shop and make friends

If they say they are sold out and are holding some in the back why would I care? I wouldn't expect them to sell me those anyways since someone already paid some money to get a reservation on those. Why would a manager think it's alright to let employees take anything they want home? Sure he could say it helps make them not want to steal, but wouldn't that just be because they are able to steal the stuff anyways? I could see some perks or benefits to working at any place, but I wouldn't expect my boss to let me have free stuff without limitations. I also wouldn't see gamestop as stressful at all. I personally wouldn't like working there, but only because I don't like making small talk much, which I imagine is a big part of working retail.

+Ryu Ranzou you have insane sales quotas at gamestop. A percentage of your sales also have to be used products, that Percentage has to be higher then your new. Rewards card sign ups can also get you fired.

honestly it's difficult to suggest something to any one cause everyone has a preference, they might like Sony, Sega, Nintendo, or prefer RPG or Fighting games, it's like a limitless pool of options, and you likely wont suggest anything they will enjoy

I learn the hard way about Gamestop's refurbish stuff sucks after buy a used 80GB PS3 from ebay 6 months ago so I can play PS1 and PS2 game. I didn't know that it was refurbish by Gamestop until I saw the sticker on the side when I took it apart to clean the vents. But lucky I fix the thing before it die from overheating. And the internet thing is funny too and plus I'm the only internet person where I'm living at.

Holy shit, like I don't care if employees played a used game before I bought it. It is a used game. I know what I'm getting into and that I wasn't the first one to love it. But don't play a game and then sell it new. That's used. Just because you work there doesn't mean you are not one who used the item.
